Spoke to a friend about this who is in PS4 data base and in the past, regularly received emails. He says he did not receive an email from her regarding the campaign and had to recently request to be on her campaign mailing list.
I have several emails and use them for different things. One of my emails is used for only things that I don't want to miss, and I give this email to very few people/businesses/organizations. PS4RS has this email and that is the email that I receive correspondence from Maribeth (Just got one this morning). I never gave her this email, I gave it for PS4RS to be used for PS4RS, not a personal agenda.

I normally don't do this but I will advocate for Bill Oldsey. Bill is a strong supporter of the football program and has been a strong advocate of our NIL working group. Losing him from the board would not be a positive for the football program.

Did he support giving CJF a 10 year contract, with a totally vanishing buyout after 2 straight years of absolutely awful play? Because frankly that was about the dumbest thing that could have possibly happened. I did say about, as I'm certain there is something dumber out there in the recent past.

What about the rest of the university? It’s a pretty big place with a lot going on.

Yes, he was on the presidential search committee. He also has been involved and vocal on other topics. Check him out.
Are you just trying to be funny now? Seriously, I don't believe they could have picked a worse president than the one they chose, especially one to help right the financial ship and raise the academic standards. Please, please tell me you are joking about the examples of good stewardship you gave for Oldsey.

I voted for Barry and only Barry.
I join the rising chorus of those who are voting for Barry only. He alone received my vote today. This was not a decision I made lightly. The BOT, as presently constituted, is failing this University. I doubt that Barry, by himself, can change that, but he might be able to create an environment where change is possible.

Wow, that's a nice endorsement and I feel just as you do on this matter. Maybe I'm being presumptuous, but any chance you could give that endorsement on the old board? There is a thread with very little activity on the first page and perhaps some more would open it if you posted?

I put the old board in my rear view mirror and am reluctant to go back, but I might. Let me think about it.

Well we did so well with old white heterosexual fat men, let’s keep it that way.

The point is to hire the best, most competent, forward-thinking leader. Competence comes in all genders, races, shapes, and sizes. When you make DEI a major criterion, or the criterion, you most likely will not hire the best leader of a complex, multi-faceted institution facing myriad challenges.

Neeli has pretty impressive credentials, more so than Barron IMHO. Plus since PSU is attempting to attract a more diverse student body, having a minority female as the face of the university is a positive. Same as having a minority football and mens basketball coach, or a lesbian womens basketball or soccer coach. Sometimes diversity can help you attract and recruit the students you’re after. And all of the aforementioned are Highly Competent. You don’t need to sacrifice your standards to comply with DEI, you just need to have an open mind. Why would you assume that because Neeli is an Indian Woman that she wasn’t the best candidate?

Newly Bendapudi is the 18th President of the University of Louisville. Selected by the UofL Board of Trustees in April 2018, Bendapudi came to Louisville from the University of Kansas where she served as Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor.

Since becoming President, Bendapudi has worked toward making the university a great place for students to learn, a great place for faculty and staff to work, and a great place for alumni and the community to invest. Under her leadership, the university will celebrate diversity, foster equity and strive for inclusion.

She earned her PhD in marketing from the University of Kansas and has teaching experience at Texas A&M University and The Ohio State University. Bendapudi returned to KU in 2011 to become the School of Business dean and H.D. Price Professor of Business. During her career, she has taught at the undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA and PhD levels and received numerous college, university and national teaching awards.

All those highly competent people sure produced some staggering mediocrity!

Just dug the ballot out the spam bin. Starting at the top... Barb - no, she's a ghost who can't even bother to ask for our votes anymore. Bill - nice guy, I've met him, Dambly loves him -no. Punxsutawney Ted, only sticks his head out of his hole every three years - no. Marybeth. Worked hard to rally the wrath of the alumni and did nothing with it. Her website looks like she's running for class president and I hate the color pink. No.
Now the three from the boarding school. I signed up for their newsletter and if they put half the effort into being trustees that they are in trying to get donations they would be great. I wonder how much money they've made so far and where it's going because it's not going into any advertising I've seen here on Valley Forge Mountain.
That leaves Barry. I'm glad he finally made the ballot. I want him to get a seat if only to see what goes on after the public has been kicked out of a public meeting. No one on the board seems to want him on the board so that's an automatic 'yes' for me. I'm tired of these rah-rahs running for a seat and promising to do great things and then sit there with their teeth in their mouth. Maybe they'll muzzle Barry. I know I would. But he's written for years and I don't think they can stop him. At least he knows what he's talking about.

Regarding the "Boarding School" candidates; If you click on their "donate" link the money goes the "The Boarding School" non-profit. In other words, into thin air.

Jalapeno peppers (though not necessarily of the serrano, cayenne, habenero, ghost type) can be used to spice up a boring dish. Here goes.

Or if done right, you will not exclude highly qualified candidates who are female, gay, minorities, etc. from your candidate search. Many individuals from these groups may well be the best candidates for the vacant positions. Broadening the applicant pool to include them only strengths your chances of securing the best hire.

I've received several emails from Maribeth Schmidt promoting her candidacy. She is obviously using the PS4RS email data base since that would be the only way she would have my email address. Further, since no other candidate has been sending me emails she clearly did not share, or offer to reflect other candidates promotional materials. Although she was instrumental in building that data base, it was not to be used for her personal gain.

Seems slimy to me, but you be the judge.
Go figure, I received a message from Schmidt yesterday ...dropped in my spam. I sure She has the email addresses of everyone that joined the PS4RS .

Yep, and it's just not right. I think this speaks volumes about her character. PS4RS was supposed to tell us about all the candidates and then they would tell us who they were endorsing. Now Maribeth is using this information to tell us about one candidate and that is Maribeth. For this reason alone I wouldn't vote for her.

When he was the BOT Chair, Walter Conti told the group I was with that every once in a while the board had one very important job that they had to get right and that was choosing the next President of the University. If they got that one right they had very little to do. Everyone associated with selecting this new president should be put on a flight to Singapore with a suitcase full of chewing gum.

There are a lot of benefits to upgrading a boarding school into a mansion.

Wow. I didn't plan to give to them but donations really do go to "The Boarding School Inc." Sounds to me like Penn State Forward is running scam candidacies to get donations for a separate group which has no connection to Penn State. I hope nobody falls for it.

So if Barry doesn't win does he return to old form on this board or just go away again?

I think the Fenchak we’ve been seeing on this board is a lot less violate than the Barry we saw on the Old Board. The existence of this New-Look Barry was a factor in my deciding to vote for him. We’ll see how it goes.
