Puzzled about Brunetti

I still don't understand the deal with this kid. He fits our offensive system to a tee, lives 3 hours from campus, and is committed to play in hillbilly land (West Virginia.)? It looks as though he is going to give us a courtesy visit but I don't expect that we can sway him at this point. Why would a kid from Memphis whose parents want to watch him play college ball repeatedly shun our attempts at offering him a scholly? Charleston, WV is 600 miles away from his home.
Opportunity to QB in SEC > Opportunity to QB in Big East, right?

Maybe he's a fan of couch-burning, who knows??

The rumor is that he wants to play football at West Virginia because Pat White was his hero.

And death metal and meth.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Maybe he has been convinced by the WV recruiters that he is their next Pat White. Still, that's a long way to travel off to school when you have a similar opportunity at an SEC school that is so much closer to home. Obviously, I would love for us to change his mind when he makes his visit. Time to line up the hostesses.

positioned around campus, some toothless overweight pasty white females (hell, just do a round up of the woodwind section at the band hall), and let him hang with relf for the psychedelic pharma portion of the visit? Come on, Barry, we can match WVU.

I agree, I know a guy that knows a guy that says he stood beside him at the mall in Memphis and he is 5'9" at the most. Way to small to play at State, it would be a wasted Scholarship.

It has to be a huge blow to our coaches to lose out on Newton and Brunetti. The only reason I can see for us consistently losing out on these "perfect fits" is because of our less than stellar QB history.

over at BDJ. I am pretty sure he said he has talked to him and no way he is 6' more like 5'10 or 5'9

I think it is to the point now we know our path for 2-4 years, we need serviceable backups

next yr QB class way more important than this year QB

hopefully next year we can go sit on some couches and have a nice pitch
we really don't have good passing stats this year.
I know why I am just saying we don't

I realize that you feel like MSU is a team on the rise, but maybe he is comparing the records/success of the two programs over the last few years and feels WVU is a better opportunity. And I also realize that you guys didn't exactly have the QB to toss it around a bunch, but on paper WVU throws the ball more often.

If we don't get a running qb this year, we're going to have to rely on a redshirt freshman to take his spot. Not to mention the fact that (to my knowledge) we currently do not have any back up to Relf if he get's injured. Brunetti fills a lot more holes than Favre does, who (assuming Russell lives up to his potential and Stegal is a serviceable backup) will presumably simply backup Russell in three years after maybe filling in as a holder and pooch punter.

They only threw the ball 40% of the time this season.

They threw 81 more times than we did, but they also had a 13th game to do it. They only threw the ball 4.5 times more per game than we did (22.2 attempts for us vs 26.7 for them). And as you point out, we probably didn't throw it as much as we would have liked because of Lee's obvious limitations.

West Virginia throws more than we do. Or at least has the reputation of a more prolific offense. We all know that.

Don't really know why patdog was trying to dispute that, all it does is keep dipshits like you posting and littering up the board.

Take this for what its worth but I have a friend that graduated from MUS 4 years ago and he was talking to the coaches over the break and apparently the coaches don't think he will wind up at WVU. They said the only real problem with State was the whole Cam Newton situation. Now that that has resolved Brunetti will seriously be looking at State.

Another friend talked to Taylor Reed the other day and Taylor said that he talked to Brunetti in the MUS workout room the other day. Reed and Brunetti are great friends and apparently Brunetti was talking about MSU, but Taylor also said that Memphis wants him really bad and he's getting alot of pressure to play for the hometown school.

Even with Newton at Auburn, he'll still have to compete with Relf for running qb duties, although I guess it's reasonable to feel better about that. But if I was him, I'd be worried about Tyler Russell and whether I would end up filling Relf's role while Russell took the majority of the snaps.

I am guessing that would be how Brunetti views the situation. As for Relf, I don't think he scares too many QB prospects. The Cam Newton recruitment pretty much says that we are not that loaded at QB. Why else would you recruit a Juco QB otherwise?

already has a reshirt freshman in-waiting at QB, plus another QB rated higher than Brunetti already committed, plus it's freezing-*** cold and the girls are fugly.

but you'd think some of them would be self aware enough to realize lot's of good qb's are redshirted, and for him, the one thing he could contribute early Relf already does better.

I will leave it to you to decide whether that was the case at MSU this past season.

he's the prototypical dual threat. But you know how it is with these juniors. You think they are gonna be big time prospects but then disappear.

A junior QB from Alabama. I don't know much about him, but I don't think he's expected to play QB in college.

its going to be hard to get players like Mason and Brunetti until recruits are confident they will play in bowls if they come here. I can't remember the last time wvu didn't make one.
