You could be right. I am assuming that several years as an nfl qb coach means that he knows something but being fair, coaching an nfl qb is probably more scheme oriented that college. But I haven’t done either so just a guess

Well, he was the OC for a few years in the NFL, right? Does that mean he was the QB coach?

I think for different teams, it might or might not.

Regardless, I admit his name doesn't come to mind when I think "qb guru". But if he's what we have, he's what we have.

Negative much? He wasn't up to Bama's standards when he was hired as Head Coach early in his career. But he was still the head coach of Bama which means that he probably knows a lot more than all of us that played HS ball. He also was an OC in the NFL for multiple years and they don't normally hire people who don't know football.
With everything that's going on I guess I'm negative quite a bit. You made a cute post and I was just playing along. Alabama gave him 4 years. He took over a 10-3 team and proceeded to go 10-23 in the SEC. At Alabama. Sparky would have done better than that. If you are coaching QBs in the NFL you are working with QBs that were already good enough to play in the pros. That's not developing QBs in college. Loggains sucked balls in the NFL. Beamer hired him. I look at Shula as a similar hire, the son of a legendary coach that has zero of his father's coaching abilities. So I stand by my WISHING we had someone on staff with a REPUTATION of being a qb whisperer. That would be best for Sellers. Our staff looks like it's Beamer's ceilling. It is what it is. Some on here are perfectly satisfied with that. That's cool. I am not but am totally helpless to change it.

He was both. Some years as an OC some as the qb coach, some years he had both jobs

Not sure if this makes your point or mine, probably depends on perspective.
This is a ranked list of “qb whisperers”.
the biggest thing that I notice is that they all look smarter when they have a more talented qb.
Loggains and Shula are are the list albeit pretty far down.

Those are NFL rankings. Wish you could have found a college ranking. Alright with you if we just call it a draw and move on? 🙂

Thought of this thread in the second half.

Watching Ashford play, it should be clear now why it concerned people that he was working with the ones.

I still believe it was to honor the "you’ll get a shotbto start" recruitment. But Ashfordnis a known quantity. And i hope sellers heals.

Makes him a puzzling portal addition.

I dont know. He's a qb with SEC experience, and a "change up" qb. I could defend the choice. But i understand why a one dimensional qb would be a questionable choice.

Imho, it would make sense as a change up to a pure pocket passer.

Both should work with the 1st team but one needs to rise to the top as the leader.
However, if you remember, the team which would have been ranked #1 if not for a stupid loss to Navy was a dual QB team.
Dang those stupid losses always get us. Help me remember. Was that the refs fault too?
