Costello vs LSU comes to mind. Yes, he was seen as a "decent" QB coming in, but literally NO ONE expected the kind of performance he had against LSU.
That was a fun day
IDK, Costello was our actual starting QB, so kind of takes the Randomness out of the equation. But I will defer to the RAT experts.
In football the first one that comes to mind is Damian Williams vs Arkansas in 2013. Dak is out, Russell gets hurt late, so we go into overtime with bowl eligibility on the line and a true freshman that we stole from USM as our only QB. He has a 25 yard TD run on the first play of OT and we win in the state of Arkansas for the first time in our history.
Of course, the best example I can think of is a game we lost in a horrible year, but Tony Shell in the 1988 Georgia game is who I thought of first

Simeon Price in the bowl game last season. He had 68 rushing yards including the long run inside the 5 in the final seconds that set up the winning field goal. The 68 yards in the game was nearly half his rushing yardage for the entire season.
Keytaon Thompson against Louisville is kind of a RAT. I thought we were going to get smashed in that game with no Fitz and no Mullen. KT outplayed a Heisman winner that day.
And Ole Miss but Dak came in for the over time.
Mike Wright getting hurt and new #2 QB walk-on Jake Weir coming in to lead us to a victory would be as RAT as it gets.
Yep almost as many people overreacted about that win as fans do about a loss.
I literally told my best friend (who’s an LSU fan) that Costello was going to be better than Sam Ehlinger (UT’s QB in 2020) after that game. Obviously, I was wrong…
