Beamer is risking all the momentum he has gained if he doesn't get this corrected, and fast.

IF there's any thought in his mind to retaining Satterfield for next season, he needs to give him an ultimatum for the final 4 games. Is it a tall order to revamp an offense with 4 games left in the season? Yeah. Would you do if it your job depended on it?

Did he actually say that?

They do have a legitimately good defense, but we made them look championship caliber tonight.
If he said that.....it's the first shot at the OC in an effort to side step some blame.
Hey....Rattler has arm talent. He's 100% an AR/PR guy....get an AR OC in here pronto....so we can build immediately. Rattler could flourish in PR once again.

I noticed the "if it was up to me" quote and wondered the same thing. Who is it up to? Was Satterfield implying someone else is saying don't play Bell this week? Maybe there's more to it. I don't pretend to have inside information. That statement by Satterfield was odd. Maybe he's overwhelmed by the situation and just saying whatever pops into his head.
This kind of crap discussion involving an individual doesn't happen in non-dysfunctional situations. In that case, team success squelches it. They just sit on the bench and brood until they go into the portal.

I wouldn't bother with that. All you would have is a guy who had a half-decent year at Temple some time ago.

I really hope it was just an off the cuff expression, like when I say "to be fair", to start a post or sentence.

Most fanbases hate the OC. If Rattler really said that he was damning himself more than the coaches. Players watch tape and have to recognize what they see on the field. MO has a good defense, they are super aggressive and make qbs uncomfortable. Rattler hasn't shown himself to be very intelligent on the field, he looks confused quite a bit, especially if he has any pressure on him.

I know Rattler is Beamer's boy and the fans put a lot of hope and faith in him transferring in but I'm not sure he is the best option at qb right now. I also don't know if he is the best qb to look to for the future. I'm not sure Doty might not be the way to go. I'm pretty confident Doty can beat Vandy and maybe Florida. I'm writing off UT and Clemson this season.

I get what you guys are saying about Rattler not shouldering all the blame, but I can't help but think back to his OU days.

He had a great freshman season, enough to be a Heisman frontrunner, then tanked his sophomore year.

He had OL play, and an aggressive offense with supposedly good play calling, and he still declined.

What changed? Was more asked of him, and he has a mental ceiling? Something changed drastically, and it was before he ever got here.
I honestly am not that familiar with his time at OU, so you could very well be right, never a good sign to lose your starting position, unless it is to a Superman..

Would Rattler be producing if he had a competent QB coach?

Rattler is certainly not going to the NFL after this season, based on how he has done. So, I suspect he is coming back, unless he transfers again.

I was waiting for someone to ask Rattler about the TD run so I could hear him say, "I can't believe I did that. You know I didn't want to but I had to. Cause if I didn't people would know - I'm really scared schitless. Please don't expect me to do that again."
Doty doesn't appear afraid to run the ball when scrambling and has some elusiveness. This offense really needs that element.

Rattler obviously hasn't performed up to the hype but I refuse to blame any QB that has 2 seconds to make a play before he is on the ground. Only a QB with amazing run abilities could survive this onslaught and consistently make big plays. The OL is awful and after running for your life, game after game, it is bound to have a mental effect, and it has, it's happened to all our recent QBs. Even on plays when there is no rush, you are still anticipating the rush, how can you not? Couple that with horrendous play calling that doesn't set up plays where Rattler can get rid of the ball quickly, and you arrive at where we are. I'm not saying Rattler is the greatest QB, but most teams don't have a really great QB, they have a QB that fits into the "system" the coaches set up; but ""running for your life every play"" is not a "system" and you shouldn't have to adapt to that. A Connor-Shaw-like QB is the only type that could excel under these circumstances and we don't have a Connor Shaw. I think Satt should be replaced immediately with an assistant, I've seen some mentioned here, then go after a good OC after the season. Beamer's career depends on it..
I'm 100% with you on that. Rattler has certainly had his share of mistakes, but how in the hell is there like 4 defensive players in the backfield 2 seconds after the ball is snapped? I understand the occasional whiff, but this happens waaay too often. I worry that other QB's look at this and may scare them away.

I honestly wouldn't read much into that. I mean.. yes it's up to him, but he can't literally give him the ball that many times, nor can he give him the ball every down. Hell, even 75-80% to one player would be a bad game plan from the start for many reasons. That said, he should have in at the very least 8-10 touches for him.

I think one thing is clear, there's some confusion or lack of confidence or something like that in calling and running the plays, as evidenced by @OneIsTheWarrior's post regarding the delay of game. It's just sloppy and we have no offensive identity. A lot more that I see, maybe I'll start another thread..

Satterfield: "I can promise you Spencer Rattler knew what to do. He does it every day in practice. (His quote) was misinterpreted. He was laughing about it Sunday."
