Reaching conclusions from a spring practice game

If you didn't think competition for positions and playing time weren't going on Saturday then you don't understand.
Gunsie informed me years ago that whoever started on the OL in the spring game is always the starter when the season begins.
Totally disagree. All we had to do was block basic schemes we win. Both years. Block 2 double teams at the hole, we win both years going away
Two double teams at the hole? Doesn't that leave a couple of defenders unblocked?

and that is the exact attitude that caused that!! OSU Knew they would find a way to win, and PSU and CJF knew they would find a way to lose. They proved that in the Rose Bowl. You are correct, you are what your record says you are, but that doesnt mean they couldn't have won those games. The only difference, was mind set, especially by the HC.
like I said, 1994 was our last national championship caliber team- you can assign all the bulls hit "reasons" you want, but the fact is we aren't Alabama- never have been, never will be

I think the 2005 team was close. From 1968-1986, at least, we were pretty close to Alabama.
Generally true, but that period had some meh years ('70, '76, '83, and '84) of the type we haven't seen with 'Bama during their current run. As a student from '81 - '85, I experienced the awesome and the meh in equal quantities.

True, Penn State usually had a down year or two followed by some big years. But Penn State wasn't too far off from Alabama in that timeframe. What Alabama is now going back to 2008 or 2009 is on a whole other level. They simply reload. Very few teams have been able to maintain that kind of consistency for that period of time. FSU from 1987 to 2000 was on a similar level, but I don't think there's anything else that really compares.
Ahhh no…when there was balance in CFB, Penn State was as good as any and had the bowl ready it’s to prove it.

In that time period, there were 10 Top 5 finishes,14 Top 10 finishes, and 16 Top 20 finishes in 19 years. Note quite Saban-like, but not too shabby, either. Paterno used to be able to tell recruits that everybody who played under him for 4 or more years was a part of either an unbeaten team or a team that played for a championship. That ended around 1990, but the next few years weren't that bad.

I'll draw conclusions. This team won't be that good. OL still isn't strong and they don't play with tenacity. Something is drastically wrong with the S&C program.
Wr is ok but they don't have that big time deep threat.
Defense has issues namely size up front and LBs will get absurd all year.
That was my ex-girlfriend's fav play.
