If you’re talking about just making the regionals, I disagree. Both State and OM are in the exact same spot as of right now. We’ve gotta get to 15-15….more than likely. OM can get in at 13-17, as their nonconference schedule is much stronger than ours. Both teams need to go 7-5 from here on out to get off the bubble. It’s great that we pulled even with them this weekend from a resume perspective.

Of course, all else being equal, we can also get a leg up on them with a win Tuesday….this is maybe the most important Governor’s Cup of all time when considering each team’s current postseason prospects.

I think 14 SEC wins is pretty close to a lock. Only team left out with 14 wins since the field expanded to 64 was A&M in 2008. With the injuries we’ve had, the strong finish it will take to get to 14-16, and defending national champions, I think 14 gets us in. A win Tuesday would sure help though.

Did you mean a different team / year? A&M made it in 2008 and won 49 games that year. They also weren’t in the SEC then.

We’ll damn. I thought for sure I’d read that somewhere. Looking back, I see that Bama & Florida got left out at 15-15 in 2007 (Florida had a losing overall record). Don’t know when since then a team got left out with 14 wins, but it can’t be more than a couple.
