the week of the Houston game, Dan Mullen hmself stated that he was throwing the ball great and moving the offense very well.
15 for 23 for 160 yards, 2 interceptions and 2 lost fumbles.. Those are Tyson's numbers against a clearly sub-par Houston defense at home. 4 turnovers and 0 touchdowns. So Russell was "throwing the ball great and moving the offense very well", yet Dan didnt think that he would be able to produce better numbers than that? That was obvious coach speak man, surely you can see that.

u sir are a 17n idiot... tyler russell hasnt played a live down in a year?? why do u think that is idiot? its because he was redshirted so we wouldnt waste him this year.. and yes i would put money on him being a better passer than newton... newtons dad put his hand out and asked for 200,000 dollars and that is very very reliable information.. screw that dude he sucks i dont want him on my team.. let him go play for auburn and become kodi burns in his second year.. u look at his stats and automatically assume he can be the man in the SEC.. he sucks and u will find that out... much rather have tyler russell start for 4 years than newton for 2

1) Writing in stream of consciousness.

2) Use of text message writing (i.e. u instead of you).

3) It was Dontae Walker.

4) He named himself after my most hated Bulldog of all time. That in combination with the rest was too much to bear.

How about Mullen wanting to RS Russell? This was Mullen's first year, it didn't matter if we went 0-12, he is getting ready for the future. He is already going to be playing too early as it is, but I for one have confidence in Russell, and Mullen knows it's best not to throw a true freshman in the fire if you don't have to b/c he will +%++ up and then you have a kid trying to get his confidence back from day one and that's not good. Yea Lee's number sucked in that game, but it was still a close game. It still could have been won with Lee. And yes Tyler Russell will develop into a better passer than Cam Newton. Watch their damn film. Also, everyone needs to stop worrying about TR being able to run the option. Just b/c that's all we did worth a crap last year doesn't mean that's what our offense is about. We had a midget at qb for god's sake. TR will be good next year, book it.

Maybe Russell will be a better QB for playing in his RS Fresh and Soph years. Some QBs develop better when thrown into the fire rather than sitting the bench for 2-3 years. And he still had a year to watch and mature physically so it's not exactly being thrown into the fire.

Does anyone think we'll see a Relf/Russell combo ala Tebow/Leak in 2006? Obviously they wouldn't be as potent but you'd have your running QB in Relf to run the option and your pocket passer in Russell.

I was referring to the Houston game when I said he would have been thrown into the fire. I'm not sure if I was clear on that or not. I now him starting this year will not be being thrown into the fire. Nevermind, it does seem pretty clear that my post was referring to the Houston game since that's what I was quoting.

If you are a grown man crying over where a 17-20 year old kid chooses to go school then you should seek professional help.

1) I am a grown man
2) football is a game

Seriously, I really like football and I really like MState and want us to be successful, but come on. Get some perspective.

Maybe if this year mattered we would be playing in a bowl game AND receiving a recruiting bump. You understand how this works, right? Win more games and more & better players will be interested in your school.

if I could get $200K for my son I would have him sign with any school in the country that would pay it. And that even includes the school whose name Mullen won't mention.
