Have y'all noticed that the coaches that coached under Saban are killing it on the recruiting trails? They learned from the master of NCAA end around. If you don't believe me just remember Jimbo's comment about Saban and the NCAA when they were Sabre rattling after A&M had the #1 class. Kiffin came from that camp and he just hired Saban's old DC so now they are killing it on both sides of the ball. OM has their fans involved in the process.

I guess things have really changed over the years. We used to attend the Tip Off club meetings before basketball games. The coaches weren't allowed to talk about recruiting and they repeatedly warned us about contacting a recruit. Now fans are bombarding recruits social media accounts.

Sorry for the rant but I hate seeing us become irrelevant recruiting wise. Recruits are the lifeblood of your program. To me it looks like we are rapidly approaching Vandy status for the SEC West. Like our baseball program we have dropped from #1 some years ago to the bottom. It is a bitter pill to swallow.

We are having a difficult transition at this time.

We are not close to Vanderbilt in baseball at this time. I looked out on the field and watched the Vandy boys go through warmups last Spring. They are big and fast. Surehanded with their gloves. They can at times tattoo a baseball. Their players came from all over the nation. Can we say that about MS State Baseball?

We are getting Division 2 transfers and community college players. Some thing needs to change. Quickly.

What I know about Pete Golden (from Sports Radio), a terrible DC, a great recruiter.

You have to wonder if it would make sense for a school like ours to tank for a few years - build up our nil funds. Then go on a spending spree for two years and see what we can do. We’ll never compete with richer programs if we try to go head to head with them every year.

Take more of a pro sports mindset rather than worrying about trying to compete every year.

It appears his on-field success is spotty, but he'd certainly be better than what we currently have. WM went into a 2-minute, hurry-up offense and our D looked like they were trying to decipher Chinese arithmetic.

Are you comparing the best coach and program of all time to our current situation +or- bama fans opinions ? Pete had 99 options..Literally could have coached anywhere he wanted . He went home ….only other spot he will go is LSU…which would be closer to his home home …..but he’s a MS delta fella. That’s where he played and where he grinded teeth.

Still not elite. What was their record last year with that portal recruiting? They will officially miss out on Atlanta again. The only team in the west that will never make it there. If the SEC wasn't so down, they'd be a middle of the pack team at best. Our recruiting is trash, but theirs isn't approach great either. It's amazing how so many State fans prop up their sorry asses.

Jury is still out this year. They beat a talented LSU team that held us to 7 yards in the first half with our run first offense. This is their DC's first year and they have the best DEs in the state committed. We can wear maroon colored glasses and downplay what they are doing. They will be spending that NIL money at the end when the 5 stars are locking in. They always wait until late in the game to hike the bidding.
