Oh come on, if covid wackiness doesn't happen do you really think sitting out wouldn't have hurt him? The Steelers were openly stating they were taking guys off their draft board if they didn't play.
I just stated a fact. Do I think Paraons would have been drafted where he was if it was a non-COVID season? Yeah, probably. He’s that talented and ultimately, NFL drafts athletic ability.
The whole debate is interesting to me. Personally, I would play a bowl game. I believe in making a commitment and carrying it all the way through. The idea it being a meaningless game could then be put on any game after you’ve lost your second game of the season for every team and unless you’re Alabama, Ohio State, or Clemson (or possibly a few other teams) same could be said after your first loss of the season. So, I don’t kill kids for sitting the bowl games out but I do question why it doesn’t happen earlier in the season once they have enough action on film. Also, if the idea is to not risk injury I would have respect for a playoff bound player who chooses sit out to protect their professional future.
