I missed this while I was on vacation. Long-time host of NPR's Morning Edition, Bob Edwards, passed away on Saturday (2/10), at the age of 76.
Edwards was the original co-host of Morning Edition, which started on Nov. 5, 1979. The other co-host, Barbara Hoctor, was only in that position for 4 months. Edwards was then the solo host from early 1980 until April 30, 2004.
I enjoyed Edwards's laid-back style, and loved his weekly chats with legendary MLB announcer Red Barber, which he conducted over a 12-year period.
Edwards conducted more than 20,000 interviews as the host of Morning Edition.
