Traded by the Sixers on Sep. 2, 1969, along with Shaler Halimon, to the Chicago Bulls. In return the Sixers received Jim Washington and a player to be named later, who turned out to be Bob Kauffman (who wasn't sent to the Sixers until May 11, 1970).
Washington was with the Sixers for 2 seasons, and was traded on Nov. 19, 1971 to the Atlanta Hawks for Bill Bridges. (Bridges lasted 1 season with the Sixers, and was traded by them on Nov. 2, 1972, along with Mel Counts, to the LA Lakers for Leroy Ellis and John Trapp. The Lakers waived Bridges 2 years later.)
The Jet was an All-Star 3 times with the Sixers, and 4 times with the Bulls. I hated the Sixers trade when it was announced, and was proven correct in how the trade played out.
Chet The Jet was an excellent small forward on the Sixers.
