Wow, a great career. Thoughts on HOF?
Not unless the voters change the paradigm for selecting kickers. Right now, there are four kickers in Canton. Only two are what I'll call "pure" kickers: Jan Stenerud and Morten Andersen. They were the dominant kickers of their generation. The other two, Lou Groza and George Blanda played other positions. Groza was a damned good OT for years as well a being the best-known kicker of his time. Blanda was a so-so QB, but gained celebrity fro his heroics as both a QB and kicker at the end of his career, which lasted a long time.

If they were to measure kickers the way they do other positions, Gould, who has statistics comparable to Stenerud and Andersen, would have a very good chance of getting in.

ESPN recently polled 50 analysts, experts and reporters to vote on a greatest player of all time at each position. And, in the voting, Adam Vinatieri earned the title as the GOAT kicker or punter in NFL history.
Vinatieri earned 22 of 50 votes, beating out Ravens kicker Justin Tucker (21 votes), former Raiders punter Ray Guy (6 votes) and former Saints/Falcons/Giants/Chiefs/Vikings kicker Morten Andersen (one vote).
Vinatieri is the NFL's all-time leader in points scored (2,673) and field goals made (599), and was a three-time first-team AP All-Pro. A four-time Super Bowl champion with the Patriots and Colts, Vinatieri earned his GOAT title for what he did in the playoffs. Vinateri is eligible in 2025. So that should give us a modern era basis.

Appears like Robbie Gould is in the ballpark. He was 2 for 2 in his only Super Bowl but lost to the
Chiefs. I would guess Vinatieri and Tucker are probably locks.

He has the numbers. When you look at some of the position player head-scratchers recently elected, Gould should be in. But electors seem to have a bias against kickers.

Da’ Bears crapped their own bed when they let Robbie go 1/2 way through his remarkable NFL career.

Few players have ever had such an AVERAGE college career followed up by a HALL OF FAME worthy NFL career!

KUDOS TO ROBBIE SOLID GOLD GOULD!

So which nfl team will lose a playoff game to a missed FG and have their fans on twitter telling them (rightly, likely) they should have picked up Robbie Gould first?

If Franklin is smart, which he isn’t, he would reach out to Robbie and ask the next time Robbie plans on visiting Pennsylvania and PSU in particular.

He might be able to offer some kicking advice to certain kickers who just happen to be on the practice field when Robbie “visits” 😎

Our local chapter of the Society of Plastics Engineers used to hold a golf tournament for an annual fund raiser every June. The event would put 36 foursomes at Heritage Hills and another 18 to 36 foursomes at Cool Creek, both near York PA. One of the guys involved met Robbie when he came to Hershey to play in the big 33 game and they became good friends. Robbie used to come in to visit quite often, and for several years played in the tournament. He was a good guy and socialized with everyone at the clubhouse after the golf ended. When Robbie played in the Super Bowl he would pay the way for the guy from Hershey to come to the game for the week and hang out when not practicing or playing.
