Good decision.
All coaching hires—shoot, all hires for pretty much anything—are a gamble. And it’s often as much the culture and systems that make for success more than the individuals (though individuals are of course important and build and maintain that culture). Mississippi State has had a successful culture since at least 2009. (By contrast look at Auburn, Florida, or Texas where otherwise successful coaches have been taken for a ride on a roller coaster.) Arnett seems to fit the healthy parts of our culture, offers a reasonable hope of growing, keeps our team supported through a difficult time, and makes our recruiting viable this year.
