Paper maps were my best friend. Google Maps has supplanted this for me. I have a pretty good sense of direction (except for Boston, which makes no sense!) and don't need a "in 300m, turn left" guidance.I remember going down to Columbia to meet my cousin and cruise some mall and meet chicks. Once he got so drunk he passed out and I had to drive his car back to his house, not having a clue where I was. Looking back, I don't know how I ever got anywhere before the advent of the smart phone.

Agree on Boston. You think you are on the right street but if you wait a minute the name will change. And all the one way streets are going the wrong way.Paper maps were my best friend. While street names change in Charlotte as well, the city is very good about posting signage indicating such.Agree on Boston. You think you are on the right street but if you wait a minute the name will change. And all the one way streets are going the wrong way.
