Question about public transit options for the game. I don’t want to park at the stadium so I am considering light rail. I see the L Line (Gold) has a stop at Del Mar in Pasadena. Then I could walk to the stadium. Anyone know if there is parking at Santa Anita Racetrack which would enable me to take the train from Arcadia? I would think that a lot of people would park there just for the Parade alone.

If anyone has suggestions I would be willing to listen. Thanks in advance.

We took the gold line last trip from Union Station and it was a little bit of a walk to the Bowl after we departed the light rail.

There is parking at the Parson's Open lot and their East and West annexes which are adjacent to the Open lot. The lot and annexes open for football parking at 11:00 and you can be shuttled in from those locations. Its a good idea if their is rain in the forecast and the grass lots right at the bowl turn into a quagmire. Price is $60 and can be purchased through LAZ Parking. The Open Lot and Annexes empty out right after the parade ( you can buy parking at Parsons for the parade too) to provide parking for the football patrons.

Does anyone know anything about the pregame tailgating that is part of tour packages? Can you pay to get into it? I got my tickets from a 3rd party. I'm just looking for a place I can buy food and drinks before the game.

I'm not going, but if I was, I would Uber to the Rose Bowl entrance.

So I'll try to break this down into two parts: Del Mar station to stadium via walking and train from Arcadia:
  1. Walking from Del Mar station is doable. In 2017, we parked at Caltech and walked from there which is a little bit further away. You could also walk from that station to Parsons in Old Town (have to walk through that area anyway) and catch the shuttle.
  2. I live on the eastern side of Pasadena but oddly enough, in 12 years time, the only time I've ever been to Santa Anita Racetrack has been for a food festival and even then I took Uber so I can't speak to their parking especially on Jan 2nd. However, the Westfield Santa Anita Mall is adjacent to the racetrack so might be easier to park there and walk to the station (though that would probably be about 1.5 mile walk from the mall to the train station.
  3. Another option might be parking at Hastings Village shopping plaza, walking across the street and taking the Sierra Madre Villa station stop. I think that station stop also has a parking garage though I dont know the hours (especially on Jan 2nd).
let me know if that helps. you can also shoot me an email - [email protected]
