The Stans firing was perceived as a quick trigger by all but MSU people. We hired Ray because everyone higher on the list turned us down. I had a good source on that one.
I always loved this hilarious take. Quick trigger? He went his last 4 straight seasons without an NCAA at-large bid. 3 straight seasons without an NCAA bid at all….the last of which he had the only 2 first round NBA draft picks that he ever coached as a HC, and a 5* McDonalds AA PF / C. Was easily the best team in terms of talent that he ever had. He had that awful run after having 5 NCAAT at-large bids in the previous 8 seasons.

Combine that with the off the court issues, the flirtation with the Clemson job…..and it was WAYYYY past time for him to go.

Stans had a great run….I was his biggest defender for over a decade when folks continuously blamed him for every problem, NCAA upset, random bad game, etc. But he got way more than enough rope to hang himself.

Just laughable at this point. Noone is buying that. I think they need to work a different angle or come up with some different CYA spin
Yeah, none of them believe it. It's just the story they have to tell themselves to have hope. Plus you have a lot of RuN dA bAwL mouth breathing too - but deep down, they all know Leach left far from a mess.

Problem is, in true MSU fashion, we fired him at the wrong time. We could have let him go in Hawaii. But since we didn't, then ended highly in 2011, hard to do it then. 2012 was even worse, because while we didn't make the Dance, we did make the NIT, so just hard to do that. The optimal time would have been after 2013, when we'd have likely sucked pretty hard.

As I said, only MSU fans didn't think so. We paid for it.

Yep, and exactly what I said at the time. Had we waited one year it probably would have made all the difference in the world. The timing absolutely destroyed us.

Yeah Leach left a huge mess. A 9-4 season and top 20 final ranking. Going 8-8 in the SEC his final two years. Beating OM on the road. Beating Texas A&M back to back years. Huge mess.
Had Leach been back things probably would have been better. They certainly would have been on offense because we would have been running the offense the players were recruited for. The problem is Leach wasn't back, and nobody ran his offense anymore. Thats what happens when you run rare niche offenses, the transition when it's over can be brutal. On defense we were going to head downhill no matter who was here. The talent was gone.

Out of our last three head coaches we fired one after two seasons and one after one season. Think on that a minute. Lebby is going to get a bit. I think it's going to be three seasons at least.

I agree. That includes all of our fan site reporters. They know as much about football as the rest of us. That includes Robbie, Paul and my cousin. Now if they have other info that doesn't relate to actual play on the field - that's where they shine. Recruiting, rumors, etc.
Apparently this post got @RobbieFaulk and @Brian Hadad panties in a wad. Don't be bitches and come wallow in the mud pit over here.(y)
