You sound like that little beat boy Robbie constantly crying about logos. 17 a logo...just win, baby…..before we sweep up the garage. He said that in reference to dealing with the program before we deal with logos. That’s false!!! That’s shows how clueless our fans, administrators and media really are. Greg Byrne didn’t do that. He fixed the branding, THEN went and got coaches, with a strategic vision for the AD.
Why must we continue to do this? We’ve operated this way our entire existence except for 2009-2022. Why don’t we learn?????
Mississippi State doesn’t even know what it is. We just float around and are grateful we’re in the SEC.
Adidas does an excellent job of stagnating their own sales with the crap they turn out for usKeeping the same logo stagnates sales.
Well, he was only AD for 2 years. During which time he changed (updated) the logo.Because he understood branding is all about consistency over time. It’s not something you continually “fix” every 5 years.
We rebranded to sell more merchandise… 100% the reason why. It’s why anyone rebrands. That's what this thread is about. Folks like you and Rosey simply won't get why it's important, and why branding helps. Even the good guys don't get it, for the most part.
OR......you can look at it another way. Why did we try to rebrand in the first place? We didn't need that issue when we were already having to do things elsewhere.
MSU is its own worst enemy and it can't even see that truth. So we can never move forward.
Why do ya'll keep going back to a helmet? Who cares about that? I'm just talking about a primary athletics logo, which it's advisable to match the university logo. This is the logo that goes on TV, gets painted on the 50-yard line, mid-court, etc. And generally it's in certain areas of uniforms, but doesn't have to be. It's the MAIN emblem that represents the university, both academics and athletics.
I truly believe that is why we have so many throw back games with alt uniforms that coincide with apparel releases. Adidas is trying to recoup their money from a tiny fan base.It is simply marketing. We have a small fanbase compared with other schools. By changing the logo fans that try to keep up go buy new apparel. Keeping the same logo stagnates sales.
Again.....can't we do both? We can sell &tate stuff all day long. They can be secondary uniform logos and if fans like it, so be it. I don't see why it couldn't have remained a baseball jersey, sometimes (or all the time) a helmet logo, sometimes (or all the time) a basketball logo, etc. and sell a bunch of merch with it. But why the push to get rid of our university logo and make &tate the primary athletics logo? It makes no sense. We rebranded to sell more merchandise… 100% the reason why. It’s why anyone rebrands.
Just curious, are you hearing this and listening to his podcast? You are a better fan than me if so. I listened to every one of them back during the Freeze Flim Flam days, but I can not sit through that anymore. The hour and a half long format is too much. 15 minutes of top 10, constant 3 minute ad reads, preaching about what you need to think and the walking through games play by play...my goodness.…..before we sweep up the garage. I fast forward through a lot of the BS - top ten, game breakdowns, ads, etc. Definitely pick and choose.Just curious, are you hearing this and listening to his podcast? Way better options out there to consume MSU sports.
