I think it was quoted that he “has to pursue another job”. No idea what that means, or how its measured. But he can’t make somebody hire him at gunpoint. He could, of course, pull an Arnett at the nearest Arby’s if he ended up getting hired against his wishes.
There's just a good faith standard. As long as his agent is working the phones and making an effort, that should be sufficient. Franklin doesn't have to take a job he doesn't want...but he should at least be able to find a job as an analyst somewhere for next season.

He doesn't have to look at JUCO'S or High Schools or anything. Just use good faith in seeking a new position. He probably wants to keep working, anyway.

If he makes a good faith effort, he’ll land a pretty good job. Easily.

LSU is the school that should be what Alabama has been. It has an immensely talented state to itself and can go into Texas, Alabama, and Mississippi. No reason for them not to be dominant.
I don’t know that any team
In the country has underperformed over the last 100 years as much as LSU, considering their resources & advantages.

All the cool kids are firing their coaches mid-season now. Florida has a bye week coming up, so if they want to be like the cool kids then this is the best time to pull the trigger.

I still don't see the advantage of mid season firings, but everyone is doing it. I guess it makes the boosters happy....kinda sucks for the players, though.
I think it's mainly about firing the coach at a low point.

If UF beats us, UK, Ole Miss, UT, and FSU, they'll be 7-5 and will have finished the season going 1-1 against top 10 teams, possibly 2-1 depending on how UT does going forward. I don't think that would happen but there's really not anybody in that stretch that has been super impressive, even with their rankings. If he's 7-5 and 3 of his losses are against teams that were ranked in the top 5 at the time they played, there could be some factions that say he has turned it around and deserves next year. Fire him at 3-4 in year 4 when his best year involved going 7-5 in teh regular season, I don't think anybody is going to be complaining.

It also gives them plenty of time to work agents for available coaches. Not sure how big of an advantage that is. I think doing it with three weeks to go is probably a big advantage over somebody waiting until the end of the regular season, but unless you are going to convince a sitting head coach to sign a contract mid season (or unless you have a target that's not a sitting head coach), I'm not sure doing it another 3 or 4 weeks earlier adds much.

I'm still not really buying those reasons, but I guess if you have already decided to make a change then it's better for everyone involved to just go ahead and do it. Its just weird that so many schools are doing it mid-season right now.

An AD could - and probably should- speak with agents before firing his current coach. But he can't speak to the agent who represents the current coach. If tour coach is represented by Sexton, then it would be a serious conflict of interest for Sexton to discuss other coaches with the AD before his client is fired.

Does he actually want one? He seems pretty happy hanging out in Destin.
I am sure he is. Who wouldn’t be happy hanging out in Destin with your pick of young flatbellies? Crazy Eddie O getting back into coaching is not because he wants to but more of a function of new money drunk coonasses aren’t known for their frugal and spendthrift ways.
