The game has been rigged for quite awhile. Saban's recent whining has little to do with the student-athlete. He knows this new system isn't in his best interest and he's sounding off.
He had no issue with the system when he was hiring an army of analysts. Bama decided about 12 years ago to do whatever it takes to be in the NC game/playoff. Now A&M has declared they want some of that action. Who can blame them? If Saban has some evidence of actual violations, I'd like to hear them. The game has been rigged for quite awhile. "Ministry of Truth" at workwell, predictably, that fizzled out.
It drives the most compelling aspects of athletics, including intercollegiate athletics.Hate and discontent can be quite entertaining.
And it is a game. A passionate thing for most fans. But,a game. Lot of us, myself included, sometimes forgetIt drives the most compelling aspects of athletics, including intercollegiate athletics.
Couldn't agree more....and yes I think it's the unpopular take because so many despise Saban. They despise him b/c he's been on top for so long. He is the standard in college football. With Auburn and some of their zealot boosters being the main adversary of Alabama....if there is any dirt on Bama it won't take long to surface. Also - he has spawned so many coaching careers...if anyone of those many former employees wanting to de-throne him could with some dirt....they would.Probably not a popular opinion, but I'm not all that sure how much Bama actually cheats to get players (well, it was cheating under the old system). They don't have to. More players would probably go to Bama to play for free for Saban than take money to play somewhere else.
Saban has former assistants all over the place, including, of course, Jimbo. If Bama was buying players left and right, they could blow the whistle on Saban. So it's interesting to me that Jimbo's rebuttal didn't throw any accusations towards Bama.

Nothing Saban does isn't planned, or without purpose. He knows he's taped 100% of the time. I think he was just declaring to his boosters...."OK...this is the new game. You'd better get involved as much as the other top guys or else...." and also getting his players ready for this. Hypefest 2022 when they play.
