They are going to need to bring in running qbs who are bigger to play in a Briles RPO system. Parson isn’t in that mold Either.
That’s why I don’t like it. Compromising the passing game for a dumdum who runs hard is a waste of the QB position.

The Air Raid with Rogers got us 9 wins and we have a chance to win 8-9 next year with Rogers running a version of the Air Raid. That is, with the right system, Rogers wins more games than QB's at State usually win.

I think you have to retool the o line , all of the young o lineman were recruited as pass blockers.
I’m a fairly new poster on this board but I have kept up pretty well since Leach’s higher/Covid. If there is one thing that has become truth by repeating it over and over, it is that some how we have only recruited run blocking linemen over the years…. Now, all of a sudden, that we are in year three in recruiting for the air raid, we have on our roster a bunch of pass blocking linemen? Give me a break.

Which lineman does Alabama or LSU or any other of the Blue bloods come into Mississippi and recruit? They recruit the biggest, tallest, longest armed, strongest, fastest, lineman with the quickest feet they can get. Same as every other school in the country. They all want tall kids with long arms, just like Leach did. They recruit the best big athlete they can and hope they pan out. That’s the reason Coach Leach recruited 5 or so a year, because some don’t pan out.

Over all, I was pleased with the offensive line play this year. I thought Nick Jones played well once he got some game reps under his belt. He does not look like a pass blocking specialist at 6’3 though does he? He looks like a guard! He’s got good feet so they put him at tackle. That’s the way it works.

Percy Lewis was offered by Oregon, Georgia, TCU, Auburn, Ole Miss, Illinois, Missouri, Syracuse, MSU and others. MSU ran the air raid. Illinois try’s to pound you. Georgia spreads it out some but still try’s to pound you. Oregon does whatever they do, TCU is different than them and all of them are a little different than the others. Coaches across the country thought he fit their style of play from the air raid to running it mostly.

If the next OC is Dan Mullen, he will take the same offensive line, practice more 9 on 7 and other team periods working on running the ball, and they will be better at running the ball than we were this year because that is what they what they would have been working on. One of the reasons the running game will be improved next year is simply because of variation in the run game scheme….

I think he had a pretty good idea who the new OC was going to be when he signed. If not knew for a fact.

Well, that’s even better if true, but I think if he knew who the OC was two weeks ago, we would all know who it was by now.

It is possible that Arnett told him the 3 or 4 targets for OC, and he was good with all of them and the vision for the offense. Or maybe he doesn’t care what we run because we hooked him up with a sweet NIL deal.

But no matter what the reason, he knew for sure it wasn’t going to be the Leach Air Raid, and he was totally fine with that.

Farewell to the best quarterback we ever had who never played***
Feels like the Rodney Hudson era. He never really played at MSU, even though he was ranked the #1 high school player in the nation for that class. Probably the only time we ever got the top ranked player. Nowadays, we wouldn't even sniff an equivalent player like him.
