I guess Frost’s plan to coach so poorly they had to fire him before his buyout dropped by $7MM on Oct 1 worked. Good for him. He gets his full $14MM buyout now.
Several of their fans want Urban or Bob Stoops. Kiffin's name was thrown out too but no chance of that happening. Some of the names thrown out on their message boards are either pipe dreams or underwhelming.
I could see Stoops being a great fit there…

I believe I might be able to swallow my pride, too, spending the month of January on a beach with a tropical drink in my hand trying to decide if I wanted to stay there another week or hop a private jet to the Rockies and learn how to ski.
That kind of makes sense. I see a lot of Urbans boys got fired from big jobs. All but day and Whittingham right?
They should hire the best triple option guy available. Go back to that. Fans would accept it. They haven’t been the same since they quit it.

Which is why Mullen would do well there. With a non-SEC schedule, he would win enough not to be fired. He would average 8-9 wins a year there and occasionally challenge for the division.
They weren't happy with Pelini. They think it's the 90s and 80s. It will never be a 10 plus win every year school again. Not with current college culture
Stoops not going there. Deon would. They won't hire him though. Mullen might get a call today. Meyer needs to stay away from coaching for a bit. Ogre, well I think he is having a good time with his buyout
I think Bob Stoops is just enjoying quasi-retirement. He’s coaching in the XFL for 17’s sake.
They need to run the option. That’s what they breed out there. Big corn fed country boys. They won’t ever be elite again but they can be better than what they have been this century if they will just go back to what they can recruit.
I wanted Frost to be successful at Nebraska. I liked his story. Star player coming home to coach after proving himself elsewhere. Also, he stayed to coach the bowl game with his previous small school instead of bolting to the bigger job and leaving the players hanging. Oh well.
Exactly. Last time they had a coach that "won enough not to be fired," they fired him anyway.

What about Gary Patterson? He’s the DC at Texas and had success at TCU. Is he done or looking to be a head coach again?
Yeah, let's go hire a coach that blew it at a high profile job and hope he does better than the guy we're firing.
