There are so many Ontario Harper's now that the reference has lost some of its meaning.
“Eligibility” is the next domino to fall in this house of cards. And the NCAA knows it after the recent JUCO ruling. They’re not going to fight players pushing the envelope on this for something they’ll just lose. If college athletics is a “business” and the players are “employees”, then it’s not going to pass muster to limit players to 4 or 5 years of eligibility. Imagine a steel mill deciding that employees can’t work here for more than 5 years because they want to “make room” for a younger crowd. And not only can you not work at my steel mill, you can’t work at the other 300 steel mills in the country. The courts would never allow such organized de facto age discrimination. And they won’t allow it here either.
And just wait until players on the downhill side of their pro careers can get a better one year contract from college teams…

It's is getting funny at this point. Wife told me Denim Deshields is transferring to OM? Thought she was done as well. Agree with BfB, if all of the other "unfairness" can be rationalized away why not this. As long as someone wants you and you are "making progress" towards some "degree" have at it.

I think student athletes should all get 6 years to play 5. And they don't have to get an official degree. Just a certificate of attendance/skillset for those not opting for a full degree. Leave it up to them. Let them take subjects that could lead to something less than a professional job.....maybe they could take a number of courses at EMCC-Mayhew. Like truck driving, welding, plumbing, electrician, or some other skill that is taught there. They could actually turn one of those blue collar skills into a very profitable business and end up earning more money than a full degreed person.

Agree with this 100%. Does it still work that way in Juco? I remember we had guys playing who were in carpentry, auto body and fender repair, and various other trades preparing them for something other than “general studies”. Would also be more attractive to the blue collar types we’ve had success with in the past I would think.
I honestly can’t believe that they’re not already fighting in the courts over limits on eligibility. After all, limiting eligibility limits a player’s ability to earn, so we may as well strike that one down too
Yep. Putting off the inevitable bc it’s just gonna keep getting dumber until we go the employment route.
At the rate things are going the several years, the average college career is going to last longer than the average NFL/NBA career. We may already be there.

He withdrew his name yesterday shortly after submitting it, somebody found some extra NIL $. He had 1 yr at NC State, 3 w/ us, last year w/ Kansas and I guess another at Kansas.......what a 17d up system
