Good news, I suppose. Can’t help but wonder if some NIL money was involved there.

Either way - I’ll take him.

Graduate transfers don't have to sit out even if they already transferred once before. I don't think he has graduated yet has he? He is listed as a sophomore, so I doubt it.

Interesting, we just added SEMO's leading scorer yesterday. 6'2 guard Eric Reed Jr. who averaged 16 points. 36% from 3, 45% the year before. Had a 35 point game for them.

Hopefully Eric Reed Jr can help bridge the gap between what was left after Howland and what will come under Jans this coming season since he is just a 1 year player. He won 3 state titles in HS and was effective on some bad SEMO teams so he knows how to win and knows how to score.

Rumor I heard a few days ago was that Moore and Jeffries both pulled out. Maybe this is good news, but I had seen enough of DJ last year.

DJ was not used properly. He would greatly benefit from coming back. I'm glad to see shak is back. He's going to thrive in this offense.

We are also in Isiaih Mosely's final 3. Would be huge to get him. I would say that would put us in the top 5 of the league in talent. Jans would have a very talented roster to work with in year 1.

How should Jeffries be properly used?

He was an out of control ball handler in fast breaks, he was not a good outside shooter, he is often out of control when slashing into the pain, and he is shaky against the press.
So how should he have been used...he should set up on the block as a way undersized post player? I am not sure what is really left.

1st 2 seasons from 3: 41/112 (.366)
Last season: 29/99 (.293)

I think much like Molinar, he just had a really bad shooting season

See 7's post below. And he's a 3 &D guy in the right system. It's not unreasonable to expect him to shoot 35% 3pt plus this season.

There is definitely a growing expectations that DJ will be on next years team.

I share your reservations though.

If we can land Moseley, that will be huge. We'll have some guys that are capable of putting the ball in the hoop.. Which was MUCH needed.

Jeffries has a ton of natural talent, if he'd just bust his *** in the weight room and put up about 500 shots a day he'd finally tap into it. Easier said than done though but when you're trying to make basketball your career it's inescapable work.

I hope you're right, but are we sure he has natural talent? If anything, that seems to be his issue to me.

He has size. I would agree with that.

Depends on what your definition of natural talent is. To me the glimpses of success we see from Jeffries is all natural talent. He isn't consistent because he hasn't added the work ethic and discipline it takes to separate yourself in college. I could be wrong though, he may be a gym rat, weight room freak and constant film study guy but I highly doubt it.

I get that, but he hasn’t transferred from us. I didn’t know that if you enter the portal, and return to the school you just left that you’d have to sit out

He doesnt have to sit out if he returns to MSU.

He was at NC State and transferred. He used his 1 time immediate eligibility after the transfer. So if he had left MSU this summer, he would have had to sit out at whatever program he chose(assuming he stayed D1). Choosing to return to MSU does not mean he then has to sit out a year at MSU.

If he had transferred from Mississippi State he would have to sit out a year because he used his one time free transfer from NC State to here.
