Tonight I watched Beamer’s portion the PC. He was prickly and came in spoiling for a fight. I know some around here like the feistiness, but I found it a bit unprofessional and thin skinned. He still doesn’t understand that when you are paid millions to coach a game, there are going to be a lot of ppl who will have a lot of opinions. Comes with the territory.

I also wasn’t too crazy over how he made sure to tout his accomplishments. Seemed insecure. Like Muschamp. We know what’s he’s done.

Well, he did something no team has done since 2003. That’s a lot to crow about.

I did not think that Beamer handled himself well today.

So tools like Gene S should be able to write what they want, no matter how ignorant. And coaches are equally able to shove it back in their face. I don’t care how much money I make, it doesn’t make me a pacifist. Weird logic.

My favorite was the idiot asking him did he decide to part ways with Satterfield after the UF game. Shane asked him where he got that and the clown says twitter and social media. Shane said I hate to break it to you but twitter and social media aren’t real life. Classic truth.

Shane better learn quick not to fight with the guy holding the pen every single time he disagrees with something that is written. Everyone in the public eye knows that truth.

As far as the Q about parting ways with Satt after UF, I saw that on this Board and TOS. This is the world that Shane has chosen.

Sapakoff is part of the Clemson cult. Even though it won’t change that Clemson inbreds thinking, it is always nice when someone calls one of the cult members out.

very true. It sucks...but that is literally why he gets paid the (extra) big bucks. He has to be above it. That energy (negative or positive) is partly what keeps every HCs boat afloat in this sport.

Doesn't matter what SB says to the media/us....there is always a lot of gray in there....and rightfully so. It's another guy's career, another guy's family that SB at one point made a commitment to. I understand that side of things....so if he leaves out ALL the details to spare a friend/former colleague...that's fine.
But, I'm 100% positive SB told Sat at some point in the last half or month of the season....get your feelers out for jobs. It is what it is....100% of these CFB coaches know what type industry they're in. Maybe Sat will find his footing elsewhere, but he was horrendous here at Carolina.

My comment from another thread.

A little thing bothered me. I've made fun of my clemson friends (admit it, you have them) for 2 years because Dabo had to keep having press conferences where he told everyone it wasn't that qb's fault. I would laugh and say if the qb just played well, Dabo wouldn't have to try so hard to convince you.

Reminded me of this. If it was an obviously good hire, you wouldn't have to try so hard to convince people it was.

I am a big fan of Beamers, but it did sound a little bit like Dabo who loves to challenge anyone that might question his accomplishments or decisions.

As was pretty obvious on here, I was pretty outspoken in opposition to the Loggains hire. However, I don't have any issues with Shane offering a fiery defense. For one, what would it say to Loggains if his boss didn't publicly offer much support for him? It would not foster a great working relationship. Whether we liked the Loggains hire or not, I can tell you one thing, after that presser yesterday, Loggains would walk across molten lava for Shane.

I also don't know where some come off with the interpretation that Shane offering a fiery defense betrays his lack of confidence in the hire. Just the opposite. If he didn't really believe in the hire, he'd have filled the speech with coaching boilerplate language. But that's not what he did.

I like Beamer but is he Dabo's Brother lol. Its scary how much they sound alike.

Our fans gotta get over the Dabo stuff. The man's been in 4 national title games and won 2 of them, absolutely obliterating the perceived best program in the history of football in one of those games. He's better than any coach we've ever had in our history. Sorry. True.

Absolutley agree on the first paragraph. On the second? I'm not sure if it means Shane has a lack of confidence in the hire (how bad would that be anyway?)

It's just that he knows it's not a slam dunk, win the press conference kind of hire, so he has to sell it. Because it's not selling itself. (Imo)

True, but it's also true we tried to hire a Dabo clone in Shane.

He doesn't have the success (yet?), but he's cut from the same mold.

Oh, he's definitely cut from the same mold as Dabo. No doubt about that.

I'm older school, so I'm a fan of the Spurrier type. He didn't sugar coat things. For anyone...players or coaches...or fans (e.g. telling us to quit cheering after losses). I'm slowly adjusting to Beamer's super-positive approach.

I don't totally agree with this. WHILE they were our coaches (at Carolina)...maybe. But, Holtz and Spurrier did things in tougher eras and without the help of a uber-weak conference to usher them to the promised land annually.
But...I do agree with the comparisons to Swinney and SB are ridiculous. That's a long hill to climb for SB...and an unfair one given the conference he would be attempting to do it in.

When he was preemptively angry you just knew he was betting it all on someone on whom he places a lot of hope, but isn't really sold on. My guess is the interest from all of the conveniently unnamed coaches was not the groundswell he is trying to convince himself of. As much as he seems like a nice personable guy, no successful coach bails out of the NFL to be the TE coach at Arkansas, even if it is his Alma mater. Beamer better hope it works out, because he won't be here long if it doesn't. There isn't a post Loggains act. He has made it do or die. Gutsy, we'll see if it was smart. If we don't score 30 against UNC in the opener, this board will be in a meltdown that makes these posts look tame.

Whatever may be said of his presser, it cannot be said that he was preemptively angry. He was RESPONDING directly to criticisms of the hire.

He looked incredibly thin skinned and was angry. I will retract preemptive as you are correct about his response. I will hold that this was all some type of Kabuki theater to distract from Loggains incredibly thin resume.

I loved SB calling those clowns out. Coach doesn't have to be "above it", these "journalists" always sensationalize things and love to start drama. The "journalists' should be above starting drama and controversy. but drama gets more clicks, likes, and sales.

Dabo is a Narcissist Tool, and I would prefer our coach not sound anything like him.

Take out any emotion that CSB may have displayed and go on his answers ... he stated facts ... we were not in the room ... we were not part of the conversations ... I did not know that Loggains was offered an SEC job last year ... I did not know that four SEC schools called him within the past two weeks ... again, the data doesn't lie and he is pointing out the obvious and he is right ... social media creates much angst and yes, he now has to calm the recruits with such comments ... I remember SOS taking on the reporter from The State ... now, CSB is no SOS (and not many were/are), but I like the coaches who defend their programs, to include players, coaches, and all others associated. It does not mean this will end up being a good hire, but it might be a great hire ... look at the talent, or lack thereof, on those teams where Loggains was when he was in the NFL ... Pete Carroll failed at the NYJ and NE Patriots and I thought he made a wrong decision to leave USC-West and go to Seattle, but he certainly reimaged himself ... if social media had been back then what it is today, coaches like Bill Parcells (3-12-1 in year one), Dean Smith (hung in effigy), Coach K (horrible the first year or two) may never have made it ... there is something to be said for patience ... since 1970, the Pittsburgh Steelers have had THREE head coaches ... THREE ... have they won the Super Bowl every year? Every other year? Every third year? You get the point ... stability, believing in yourself and your program, and not allowing outside influences to permeate and affect your decision ... again, I liked the interview and I thought he handled himself well ... remember, he is also speaking out to recruits and their parents ... good for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not true. Plenty of games this past year where we won but people were still in meltdown mode over the offense.

Some of our victories had some pretty bad offensive play.

And we always have the beligerantly defensive posters to rant and cry at anyone who isn't 100% positive about everything. So it balances out.
