He gave an interview last week about how he was unsure of his future at Clem. Pretty vague, saying he has a decision to make and he's up in the air. Caught the beginning of their game against UNC and he ran down the hill with the seniors, and the announcer said it would be his last time running down the hill. Anyone heard anything? He's not an NFL running back, so I can't imagine him leaving early. Gotta be going portal right?

He talked after the game and was asked about his decision to participate in Senior Day. He said "knowing the opportunity" will be there at the end of the season. I'm sure he's talking about NFL. Doubt he would speak so openly about transferring.

Not sure about him not being an NFL RB. He's currently the #6 ranked RB in the draft. FWIW, Marshawn Lloyd is ranked #10.

18is, How do you think he will do in the NFL?

I only see Shipley as a situational player or slot type receiver. Think he would be murdered as an everyday high carry volume running back in the NFL.
That's what I'm thinking too. He's not necessarily fast. Fast enough in college, not pro. 6th would put him late 3rd/4th rounds. I doubt he goes that high.

Oh, I honestly have no idea. I saw where PFF had him has a top 5 RB in the 2024 draft coming into the season.

From the limited times I've seen him run, it seems he always picks up SOME yardage. He just looks like a tough runner and is hard to bring down. He runs very well between the tackles. I think he'd fare pretty well in the NFL, but that's not based on any deep analysis. I'd see him, at worst, being serviceable. He's also reliable as a pass catcher and blocks well.

Seems he's got a case of fumble-itis. That doesn't fly in the NFL.

I don't know if it's all that bad. Looking on ESPN he has 2 this year, 4 last year and 2 in 2021. That's 8 fumbles on 500 career carries.

Those aren't fantastic numbers, but not quite what I'd call fumble-itis. I'm sure it's something scouts are looking at though.

You always hear the NFL is a copy cat league, I think McCaffrey success, will help Shipley on draft day, similar size, I don't know the 40 times, but we will find out. How Shipley does in the NFL can be debated, but I could see him being a Rnd 3 type pick.

Think you guys are underrating Shipley a little bit because he is at Clemson. There are very few every down backs in the NFL anymore. Most teams rotate two or three backs. I think Shipley is very comparable to Rico Dowdle who is getting 6-8 carries a game for the Cowboys. Dowdle was undrafted, but that was because Dowdle was hurt so often when he was in Columbia. Backs of this type go anywhere from the 3rd to 5th Round.

Granted, I don't watch Clemson all that much, but from what I have seen, Shipley is durable, runs well between the tackles, catches the ball and blocks well. In the times I've watched Clemson play, it seems he's always going forward and picks up positive yardage.

How many of those fumbles are on the quarterback exchange though? Seems that's a common problem at Clemson right now. I've always been really impressed with Shipley as a back.

Shipley is nowhere near the athlete McCaffrey is.
Yes, your right, he may be more like a day 3 pick.

Maybe he hits the transfer portal instead. I would find it amusing if he did that and ended up here, we seem like we have have plenty of playing time/carries in 2024 up for grabs.

IDK, he's had his carries cut into a good bit this year by Moofafooo. He could be looking to get into a situation where he's the feature back to improve his stock.

I was hoping he would choose USC. We got Lloyd and I was thinking we avoided disaster, but then he leaves and now we have two rbs.

I think we’ll be good at RB. Still a good shot with Hill. Fuller just got a ratings bump on On3. And it looks like we might have a shot with Carrie. It would be really nice to know we had Mario back.
