What do you think?

From the above article:

”Manning was in his first year of eligibility and had a complicated case for the Hall of Fame, leading to widespread debate on his candidacy. He led the Giants to two Super Bowl wins over the New England Patriots and two Super Bowl MVPs. He was top 10 all time in passing yards (57,023) and touchdowns (366) when he retired following the 2019 NFL season. And he never missed a game in his 16-year career because of injury.

But the biggest obstacle, according to some Hall of Fame voters in the room, was that Manning was never really in the discussion as the best player at his position for a chunk of his career.”

Eli’s issue is that at no point in his career was he even a top-3 NFL QB. He will get in eventually. But it may not be for a few years. Next year more shoe-ins are added to the ballot.

Drew Brees goes on the ballot in 2026. Eli isn’t likely to get in then based on the comp. Brees was on another level in his playing career.

Big Ben goes on in 2027. He’s not a first ballot lock, but is widely regarded as a better QB than Eli when they played. Ben also won multiple Super Bowls and will get elected first.

Brady goes on the ballot in 2028. That’s not even in the realm of consideration on who was better or gets the nod.

Assuming the Hall of Fame will want to avoid electing two QBs in the same class, the Eli may need to wait until 2029 or later.

There are some slam dunk first ballot players at other positions in these upcoming classes too. Eli will get in eventually, but this was his best shot for several years.

Eli 2-0 vs. Brady. End of discussion.

Not even up for discussion. Eli Manning will be in the Hall of Fame next year. He took down arguably the best quarterback to ever play the game in Tom Brady not once but twice. His postseason play in both of these Super Bowl run’s was borderline heroic.

Ben should be a lock. Not a Steeler fan, but that guy was a rock. He extended plays by sheer size. Tough guy.

Any one in the top 10 in career passing yardage should be in period. The two super bowls and 2 Super Bowl MVPs are an extra. I didn't think he would get in the first year, but he eventually will.

Eli will get in. I’m just saying it may take a few years due to other QBs becoming eligible. He’s definitely deserving. His longevity and durability were hall-worthy too.

Ben is a definite lock. But it’s possible he’s not a first ballot guy. Unlikely but possible.

Put Ben, Eli, and Philip Rivers all in the HOF in the same class.
The Eli can be first to give his speech but demand to be second.

No Doubt. He belongs in. If his last name wasn't Manning it would be a lock.
