I hope with Conner on board with Diaz we will see more growth of the Lbers we have recruited-I do not think they improved during the season or tackled well. I remember in 2020 Matt Millen saying we had the worst tackling PSU team he had EVER seen. Conner was some player at PSU, a great tackler, and he is a grown mature man who I am sure will add to the program or franklin would not have hired him. Hopefully there is a place for Deion Barnes too to help DEs!

Welcome back Dan!

Let's all hope Dan has learned his lesson on making fun of and teasing people with dementia and/or Alzheimer's.

Now, if you have clue as to what I am referring to, you need to know your history; or at least past history regarding Dan.

Heck, even I could be wrong at times.

You’re wrong like all the time. 😇

Who cares? I mean seriously did you ever do anything stupid and insensitive when you were a kid? Welcome home Dan.

At the age that Dan thought it was funny to call and prank a former coach suffering from dementia; he would actually be considered a man at that age!

If all of us carried the burden of stupid mistakes we made in our teens and twenties with us our entire lives, we wouldn’t be a very productive society. I’m sure Dan has grown from that mistake. Maybe we should let it go.

Now, getting back to original intent of the post, football. I think this is a great group of hires by Franklin. Connor has been coaching at the lower levels and getting his feet wet. He knows the game. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him as the next DC sometime in the future when Diaz moves on. Also, the hiring of Infante is very smart. As the former HC at SJ Prep, maybe he will be our pipeline to their top talent? They have plenty of it every year.

I thought Connor was great at Penn State. He certainly knew how to tackle, so I’ll take it.
The phone calls were now what, 15+ years ago? If he hasn’t grown up since then Franklin is a terrible judge of character. And then so was Joe for that matter. As I recall, Connor was suspended for the two or three games up until the Ohio State game.
Connor was suspended for the 3 OOC games then played in the Northwestern and Minnesota games before he started the Ohio State game in 2005.

I have done much worse than make prank phone calls…
Not judging the hire or his current character, but the issue was not the fact that he made a prank phone call. I believe that it was the bullying/taunting/torturing (whatever you prefer) of a person with a disease. It’s really a mental disability.

He was young, but it was low.

That, and I'm pretty sure Joe made him sit for a year and then welcomed him back to the team. If he was good enough for Joe he's good enough for me.
No, Joe did NOT make him sit for a year. Dan was calling Joe Sarra very late at night as a prank and did it fairly consistently. It was reprehensible. So tired of the trope- 'Well, didn't we all do things as a kid that we regret." Yes, but I never did something like that. Never would have dreamed of it. I guess I am the black sheep.

Not a black sheep at all.

I am right there with ya!

Dan seems to have a 'Kendra-like' personality.

As in Dan Kendra!!

I agree with you, but he was like 19 years old. Like I’m willing to trust Joe on not kicking Bobby Engram completely out of the program for committing a crime, I’m willing to trust his judgement in letting Connor come back after a benching. I’m sure that if he showed more reason for concern he would have booted him.

One of many incidents over the years where what actually took place is far more complex than what was reported in the press. Connor was made out to be much more of a villain, so to speak, than was warranted by the facts.

In defense of the press, none the parties involved in the incident ever gave anything close to the full story. The reporters could have dug a good bit more, though none of the parties involved seemed to be interested in divulging all of the facts.

You're welcome to your respective opinions. I'm simply cautioning you that you've drawn pretty harsh conclusions based on inaccurate information.

In other words, nobody wanted to divulge the depth of Dan's mean-spirited involvement. And, {others'} were present at the time(s) Dan made the phone calls I bet.

It's ok,....I get it Tom.

That’s fair Tom. As stated, I am not judging the hire or him as a person now. My issue was more about people categorizing the matter as him simply making prank phone calls. The matter was whether he tormented a person with a mental disability. Such behavior evokes a strong emotion response, but I should have qualified my statement with “if true”.

"The matter was whether he tormented a person with a mental disability."

And that is what pisses me off the most about him.

But that's ok because, he is getting older day-by-day!
