Best part (whether she said it or not):

“You cannot trust the FBI!” Bendapudi allegedly said, later adding that the FBI is “tricky,” according to the filing.

Hey, she may not be all bad.

“The Board of Trustees has complete confidence in the leadership of President Bendapudi and senior vice president and chief of staff Michael Wade Smith,” Schuyler said.

Sound familiar?

Universities and university presidents get sued all the time. In this case, Bendapudi is not a defendant in the lawsuit. Not much of a news headline, IMO.
There may be strategic reasons for suing the University vs. suing the President of same. Regardless, the accusations certainly concern matters that crossed Bendapudi's desk and involve her alleged input.

If that quote about the FBI is accurate, then she has won a few points with me.

I hope it is. That's the highlight of the article for me.

The article as a whole isn’t a good look for Neeli. It seems that she ran the place. o_O

The lawsuit claims that Shoemaker was a mandatory reporter in this incident. Did she have an obligation to inform Neeli before going to the police? It seems that Shoemaker was in the right in going to the police.

Mandatory or not, Shoemaker should have gone to the police. The only fault I might find is that she didn't inform Dr. Bendapudi immediately.

Calm down J. Edgar. That's not my point. The quote is loaded, if true. I'd love to hear her full explanation of it. That might be full of riches.

This could simply be a bitter employee who is making up stuff to win a case. Perhaps Neeli was upset that she wasn’t informed. That’s a far cry from Wade saying Neeli is solely responsible for the situation. I also doubt that Neeli said that about the FBI.

Yes, if it's true, I'd like to hear her explain what she "meant" by that.

I think that this is very significant in how an organization should function especially when it means going outside the organization and, unless Bendpudi was out of the country and unable to be contacted, was a must.
The question that this leaves open to me is: once informed, would Bendpudi have agreed to report it?
