14 years old, 6'10". Not sure of weight, but has size 23 foot. Per his dad, there are no disorders. Just a big kid. Dad is 6'5" and mom is 6'2".

Sweet lord... if he develops enough muscle to hold his ground, he'll make a heck of an O-lineman. It will take an expeditionary force a couple of days to get around him.

Of course, you gotta be able to bend and move that body to be an elite tackle.

I wish him well. It will be interesting to see what he looks like in 3 years,

I feel sorry for him.
:ROFLMAO: LOL! Why?

Because it was hard finding shoes? Because he is embarrassed being so large? Pretty much every kid in middle and high school feel embarrassed or insecure about something. I have 5 kids and everyone of them went through periods of insecurity. Hell, I went through most of my childhood insecure about one thing of the other. Mom needs to get a grip if she gets upset over people saying they want to see his birth certificate in sports. This kid will be more than just fine in about 4 years when he is suiting up for the Wolverines, and has NIL deals out of the wazoo.

When you're THAT large, life is very difficult and inconvenient and uncomfortable. Look how much hassle they had JUST finding shoes. You've probably never given a second thought to the shoe buying process. That simple thing was a major ordeal. And he's only 14.

Yeah, you are right. I've never thought about buying shoes. How do you do that? Where do you start? :ROFLMAO: Did you miss the part about I have 5 kids?

Do you feel bad for how unfair it must be for a 5' 2" 150lb 14 year old trying to block that guy. Erik will be just fine.

One thing I will say is the pain he has gone through with his feet, ingrown toenails, and such things must really suck. At least he has caring and considerate parents who worry about this. My parents didn't buy me shoes growing up until the sole was falling off or my toe started popping out the side. I'd sometimes damage them myself just to get a new pair. Then, they would hook me up with a new pair of Trax. The ultimate pair of shoes that was guaranteed to have everyone at school laughing at you.

The simple reality, which I know you understand but are pretending not to for whatever reason, is that when you're the size of this kid, normal everyday tasks are just more challenging. Obviously, I know you understand that trying to find a size 23 shoe, which is the largest Under Armor has ever heard of and requires 3D foot scans and custom-made shoes, is a considerably more challenging task than buying shoes for 5 normal-sized kids. Again, I know you understand that. But this obviously goes beyond shoes. Shoot, the kid is just 14 and already 2" longer than a king size bed. A king size bed is what most people aspire to for relaxation and comfort. For this kid, it's an absolute bare minimum at the age of 14. If he grows 3 more inches, he'll exceed the length of any standard bed size. Again, if you're Shaq, you can get a custom-size mattress no problem. He'll most likely have to sleep diagonally in bed for the rest of his life as an adult. Even now, sleeping diagonally, his height requires a minimum of a queen mattress. Is that a tragedy? No, of course, not. Just an illustration that everyday simple things us normal size folks don't think twice about require special consideration for folks who are this size. If someone told you "for the rest of your life you have to sleep in a bed that so small you'll have to sleep diagonally just to fit" you'd think at a minimum "well, that's kind of inconvenient." And if you ever wanted to get married..."well, hon, I hope you're ok with me having to sleep diagonally in the middle of the bed for the rest of our lives."

Don't be intentionally obtuse.

These are inconveniences that he will overcome. This isn't a tragedy. It is okay if you feel sorry for him, I don't. He will be fine, and most likely better off than me and you in a few years.

You would consider them considerably more than inconveniences for yourself. The mother is in tears describing the ordeal of trying to do something as simple and basic as finding shoes for her son. You should call her up and tell her how ridiculous she is to be in tears over such a minor inconvenience. I know you fully understand that this kid having to buy custom-made shoes for the rest of his life is considerably more than "inconvenient".

Yes, I specifically said it's a not a tragedy. Thanks for confirming.

I never said I feel sorry for him. I do sympathize, which is the normal human response here.

No. Just right.

You say it isn't a tragedy. You say you don't feel sorry for him. I agree with both of those. All that other gobbly goop you said about beds, and custom made shoes, Shaq, sad moms and other crap I won't disagree with. You say you sympathize with the young man. Sure, I will agree with that. Never said I didn't sympathize with his situation, just said I don't feel sorry for him. So, why is it you keep coming back at me? Is it the inconvenience thing I said.

You said: When you're THAT large, life is very difficult and inconvenient and uncomfortable.

Then, I called his situation an inconvenience, and you seemed to be bothered by that with your reply.....

You would consider them considerably more than inconveniences for yourself.

So, again, I don't know why you keep coming back at me.

As for the extreme burden and toll it is going to take on him the rest of his life finding custom made shoes:

Under Armour and Puma will be creating custom shoes and cleats for Eric Jr., while Cat footwear wants to send him boots. But strangers are also reaching out. A GoFundMe has raised more than $18,000 dollars. According to the fundraising page, the Kilburns plan to use the money towards future footwear and specialized sports equipment for Eric Jr.

He will be okay. Which is all I have said......from the beginning. I choose not to wallow in pity over the misfortunes life deals me. I choose to take life's challenges and meet them head on. I have faith this young man will also.
