When Greenspan hired Sampson two years ago, no one saw it coming, Stans would be a similiar type hire. Solid coach, good recruiter who could be a great recruiter at IU. Conference would be easier, and his style of play would be great in the Big Ten, I think it would be a solid hire for IU, and considering all of the turmoil around the program, could be as good as they could get right now.

There is a post on the Indiana's Private board that says Stans is in Louisville right now possibly meeting with IU officials.

I know its April Fools day, but IU is going to hire a coach this week, and whoever says Yes first will get hired, and it wouldn't shock me if Stans was on the list.

Stans is not a good coach though...at least thats what everyone says around here. He is not IU material.

is likely in Kentucky somewhere right now.

I wonder why Stans didn't get a closer look from S. Carolina. He was on their initial list made public by the a.d.

and I would consider it a step down.

IU would be a huge step up, it is one of the Top 5-10 jobs in college basketball.

Im sure this is all just speculation, but I know that the first few names that IU approached have turned them down and that Stans could be on the IU list.

about our fecestastic athletic situation. Thank you very much for this much-needed shot in the arm. Wouldn't it just tickle every bulldog fan to death to know that, on top of the turmoil in the athletic department, on top of the Polk resignation and subsequent public pimping of his unqualified social retard would-be successor, on top of Doc's resignation, on top of the antics of our Coach O-type recruits and their gun-wielding tendencies, on top of our offensive braintrust's incredible ability to lose recruits who are either brothers/cousins/nephews/Uncle Daddy's of current players or life-long MState fans - on top of all of that - we may now be looking to replace Stans.

Thank you. Thank you very much.

is that once you get mentioned for one job, you tend to be on the list for others ... although I'm not sure if any other opening is this big.

Methinks it would take a big offer for Stans to leave Starkville ... and that he'd probably take at least Cunningham with him when he leaves.

that he would take the "breakdown" video machine that private donors bought for him.

Of course, if he does leave, we can go get Dewayne Reboul. That way the Rowdies could keep their lame name and schtick.

<font size="2">"There is no way that IU would hire Stansbury with the NCAA clouds hanging over the program.

Stansbury is rumored to be as crooked as they come when it comes to recruiting. He would be a toxic hire for IU.

Based on the current situation in Bloomington, IU can ill afford to hire someone who even smells like trouble with the NCAA."</font>

Who would you suggest we go get if Stans were to bolt to IU or another job? Who would be your primary target and who else would be in the mix?

Ben Howland?
Lute Olson?
Calipari?

Let's hear some coaches we could legitimately get who are proven to be better coaches than Stans. I'm not saying we couldn't hire a better coach that Stans if he were to leave. But I am saying the odds of hiring a better coach are pretty damn high. And the odds of hiring a worse coach are pretty good.

Edited to add my odds of hiring a new coach if Stans leaves:

Better than Stans - 5%
About the same - 20%
Worse than Stans- 45%
A LOT worse than Stans - 30%

3 this year to us in basketball, what do you expect? Also, you gotta love the part about not wanting a coach from a "football conference" when the last 2 National Championships came from this "football conference"

Let's go, Peaches. Don't do your usual "post-and-run". Back up your **** and let's hear who you think we could legitimately go after that would be an improvement over what we currently have.

</p>aGAIN, sometime I do have to be out and about, as opposed to being in the office. Got to keep the condom customers happy. Anyway...I'd say-

Travis Ford
Either of the white Dook bench coaches since Dawkins wont come
Roy Williams top assistant?
Steve Alford
VCU's coach (unless LSU gets him first)

Thats just a few off the top of my head...Those guys can easy offer what Ricky offers and probably more...i'll research and get some more.

Steve Alford? Hasn't he already shown he can't hack it in a major conference?

Hasn't Duke shown that its assistants can't get it done at big time programs?

And you would like to replace the winningest coach in school history with a guy whose name you don't know?

You are not having your best day. That list is questionable at best.

Are you serious? Lucked up into one Sweet 16. Complete flop at Iowa and was shitcanned, winding up in New Freaking Mexico. You honestly think that's an improvement over Stansbury? You are an assclown.

that has a lower winning % than our current coach even though he spent time at a mid major and even though he has been fired by a big time program.

That is really the most nonsensical thing I've ever read.

In fact, as some have pointed out, Duke assistants have a pretty crappy history as head coaches. Also as others have pointed out, STEVE <17> ALFORD??? You're asked to give examples of better coaches than Stans and you come up with a guy with fewer NCAA wins and fewer NCAA appearances. Hell, Alford can't even win in the NIT. At least that's one thing Stans has proven he can do.
