Sipple has been known to be a mouthpiece for the program for decades. However, he is spot on now. I think he does try to be objective, at least as far as where we are at now. For the first three years I think he was trying to figure out if we really were heading the right direction. There were little signs that told you ( or him ) that things MIGHT be headed the right way. However when you look back at the way our last two seasons imploded, and look as some of the dumb arse ways we have found to lose games we could very well have won, reality sets in. His take is the sum total of a lot of things that by themselves, probably are not alarming, but taken altogether show that this program as it exists now is mediocre at best. Eckler leaving after turning a disaster ST unit into a top 10 unit is a primary example of one step forward two steps back. It is time to be honest and up front. 19-19 will not ever be "ok" at NU under any circumstance. He did make one valid point a few years ago, that being "Matt could have sat back and just collected the 40 million Carolina owed him rather than come here and take on a rebuild". And I do give Matt credit for that. The LJS is connected at the hip to the program, so yes Sipp does have to be somewhat diplomatic in his takes.
