Kent State was at the Ramada -I was there as well and they did their walk though in the parking lot next door - I was surprised how small most of them were.

I thought visiting teams usually stayed at the Wyndham Garden in Boalsburg.
SMU team is in town. NCAA protect that a while ago. Fans aren’t because it’s also graduation weekend and the area had already sold more than half their rooms for that.

Every team is different. Some still use the Ramada but a lot have switched to the Wyndham which used to be the Elk Club I believe but Wyndham rebuilt it and took it over several years ago. One team in the recent past stayed in Williamsport for some reason. I know some of MD last game was at the Graduate on Atherton and the rest were at the Wyndham. One team, I think it may have been WV, stayed at that Bedford Springs resort and drove in the day of the game(it was a night game) when they came to town 2 seasons ago.
WV stayed at Bedford Springs? They must have some expensive taste. The place is gorgeous, especially this time of year, but pricey.

Centre County as a whole only has a population of ~150K. How many counties with that population have a even a small commercial airport with scheduled flights??
But is the region population truly reflective of the volume of travel in and out of State College? Including internarional travel. There really is not much information on how many visitors to State College who fly into Harrisburg and Pittsburgh and then connect to SC via commuter flights or cars.

Lived here going on 20 years now. State College is not very accessible in many many ways. Flying in and out of State College adds $500+ to any plane ticket. Currently, you can only connect thru Dulles, Philly, or Ohara airports to get somewhere else. They used to also have connections thru Detroit but that went away. Allegiant had direct flights to Orlando for about 6 months but that went away as well. Every once in a while there are direct flights added to various places but they don't last long. I think the latest was to Charlotte or somewhere down south. Most people drive to Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Phila, Newark, BWI, or Dulles to travel. Busses are the next mode that also sucks. Only run once or twice a day but takes like 6 hours to get to NYC or Philly. Not sure about the Pittsburgh route. Lastly, there is Amtrak, closest station is Lewistown or Tyrone. Took the Amtrak to NYC once because of impending blizzard and didn't want to drive, took 8 hours. 45 mins to Lewistown to get to station, then slow roll to Harrisburg along the Little Juniata(due to all the turns I guess), 20 min stop in HBurg, then all the stops all the way to Philly, with another 20-30 min stop then off to NYC. Got a lot of work done on that ride. Bus routes in town sort of suck as well. I live in the location out by the CATA terminal but the routes stop running out this way around 6:00 PM(last time I looked).

Confirmed that SMU stayed at the Ramada. Its an old hotel/motel but someone said it was updated but I haven't been there in years. Stayed there back in the 80s and it felt outdated then. They have built several new hotels in the area over the past 10 years. No matter how many they build I don't see how some can survive because there are only about 10-12 big events (7 FB games, 2 graduations, arts fest) that fill them. Granted there are lots of teams that come to town over the course of the year but they are not filling them like the big weekends.

In some ways it is nice, in some ways it sucks when you need to go shopping for something and there are not very many stores in town any more. Wally world pretty much put all the other little stores out of business and all they sell is crap quality merch. The restaurants have okay food compared to major metro areas. But hey, I like living here because being involved at the university and around all the students and since it is a very active community it keeps me young!!! Trade offs I guess...

I stayed at the Ramada a few times this year and yes some rooms have been updated - not all so it's a crap shoot which one you will get - price is good but I prefer the Hyatt in town since you can walk everywhere from there and it's pretty new.

I have been at the Bedford Springs. It's still a long drive to SC from there. They should have stayed in M-town and flown in the day of the game. Kinda like Joe did with tne team played Miami in the late 1960s. Stayed in Pittsburgh the night before and flew directly to the game the day of.

When I was a kid, it was abandoned and the roof was caving in. It is amazing what they have done with the renovations there.
