We played the best team in the country toe to toe for 3 qtrs last week. We should shut down the football program.
We'll know how good we are in 3 more weeks. Regardless, you can rest assured this team would kick the *** of any team we had from 2001 to 2009 so why don't you just be happy?

SMU isn't awful. Definitely be one of the top 3 CUSA teams, and we beat Memphis more handily.<div>

I said we are competitive and that is an improvement over the teams you reference. But I still can't say were good. Good is actually having a chance to beat the Bama's and LSU's of the world. Although the final score of the LSU game was respectable, we really didn't have a chance to win that game. But overall we are making progress to become a good football team one day.

We didn't have a chance to beat LSU and we were tied at the half at 3 and only down at the start of the 4th by 3? What kind of glasses did your optometrist prescribe you because we obviously didn't see the same game. And by that standard, we were a better team Mullen's first year because we were a bad play action pass away from beating LSU which is way closer than where we were last week. close to the end of the game. LSU had the game under control even though the score was close. As far as 'good' or how ever you want to describe the team, we are just arguing semantics. We are much improved under Mullen's reign. And I am happy how much we have improved. A 'good' team last year, decent so far this year.

</div>That said, I am not unhappy with the progress our team has made. A little disappointed, but that's only because Mullen probably raised expectations a little higher than is reasonable. If you had told me where we'd be right now when Crooms was fired, I would have told you we must have hired a hell of a coach. I think that's probably still true. Definitely laid two eggs this year, but looking at the big picture, especially considering what's happened to our already quetionable offensive line, I'm not concerned about Mullen's coaching. He just has to figure out how to pick a damn DC and also how to recruit. I think he'll figure it out.

LSU dominated us. There's no doubt about that. But that doesn't mean we weren't in the game for quite a bit which only goes back to my point when I was saying we had a chance in beating them. Even had we won, I'd still say they were the much better team. Everything else you said, I agree with.
We seem like we still have the mentality of having an off game and don't treat all of them with the same exact intensity. We did everything we could to lose this game but won off of sheer talent more than anything else. The past 2 weeks, however, showed me we can still play with the best of competition but we're still just not there yet. Hopefully we'll correct it but I'm not so sure right now..
