So If Clemson smashes SMU is SMU out and we are in?

If Clemson wins the ACC does our win look better? Enough to jump Alabama? Given Miami is out, and SMU drops out after losing to Clemson?

Was Beamer onto something, more than making a nice gesture toward his friend Dabo, when he said he was rooting for Syracuse to lose and Clemson to make and win the ACC Championship?

Our scenarios may have dwindled on Saturday, even with the win, but is this one that is still left?

I think they are so adamant against 3 loss teams until presented with no other alternative.
meaning I’m not convinced they will drop Miami out. Bama moves to 12. Then we have to think of the real possibility Texas beats UGA. Then and only then will a 3 loss team get in, and maybe a reason Bama is ahead of us. It will be UGA or Bama in that scenario.
Also have a hard time seeing SMU dropping out regardless of the outcome against Clemson. Though I obviously think they should and would also have us ahead of Miami at this point

It may be futile to try to figure out what the committee will do and I hate that. A better system imo (and no it probably wouldn't help us this year) is for the committee to make their decisions before the conference championship games are played. Or if after, dont take the games in to account other than the winners get byes. I just dont see the fairness in judging teams that get more opportunities than others to show the committee what they can do. In other words, everybody plays X amount of games and pick the at-larges at that point.
You are right. It’s a little weird that some teams will have thirteen game resumes while others only have twelve. It will help the conference winners get a bye but may eliminate the losers. The problem is the system assumes the conferences are equal when clearly they are not. I guess we are stuck with this until they decide to change it again.

Its possible. They seem to want to send a message that 3 losses, even regardless if you happen to play in the NFC North, ain't getting you in. They're not picking the top 12 teams. Of the 12 I projected in my recent "Jason Autrey Villain" thread, our Cocks would be favored on a neutral field vs over half of them.

I think so for them to save face. Close win by Clem and they take both. Let's just pull for an SMU blowout. 😁

So, I listened to a sports reporter (National not local) discussing the fact that the committee talks a good game about strength of schedule…until it’s time to rank teams. And then it’s 1 loss is better than 2 is better than 3, no matter what kind of schedule a team played. So it’s lip service, but they not willing to put the votes with their statements. He noted that if that’s the case, you have ZERO incentive to play a power conference team out of conference. And sadly, I suspect he is correct. He wasn’t happy about it, either.

But alas, snatching a victory from Clemson softens the blow. Which is why I wonder about this thread…The correct answer is NEVER pull for Clemson under any circumstances. Seriously.

No way we jump Ole Miss and Bama. Not going to happen, especially because they have head-to-head wins against us (one at home). Injuries could play a role in the decision, but not likely again this year. SMU is in no matter what. They screwed the ACC last year, and even though the product on the field isn't as good as SEC, they'll get at least TWO in (SMU win: +Miami, SMU lose: SMU+Clemson... maybe Miami, too).

They certainly aren't going to take a 2-loss SEC team and 4 3-loss SEC teams. No way.

Pretty cool that we're in the conversation at least... unfinished business for next year.

For the record, I did not say I was pulling for them, but was more of a discussion, about was it a possible scenario? But the Tuesday ranking will really explain what if any scenarios are left.

I think like the AP we jump Miami and Ole Piss but Alabama is still in front of us.
