...shouldnt we find out where that will be in the next day or so? Or is he just going to show up at MSU or Auburn on NYE and announce? I would imagine if he wants to hold a press conference he would need to give the writers an idea of where he will be

stating that it would be announced at the campus of his choice. I've only seen that speculated about on several message boards. I think he will announce in Atlanta.

then you are absolutely correct. I would say it takes at least five people outside of the coaching staff to set up a press conference (pure speculation). But on New Year's Eve there won't be people hanging around that can just set up the equipment (mics, video?, etc.) at a moments notice that won't think much about it. PR folks, audio/video techs, etc... That is way too many people for this to be a surprise. We should at least know by Wednesday at the latest. How is VZ not all over this?

Paul Jones, BDJ, got a text from Newton's dad saying they were finishing setting up everything for the presser today and he would give him details when it is all done. He will announce NYE

That he is announcing from the school of his choice...if he does, it will get leaked out ahead of time in order to drum up support and have a crowd there. It would look dumb to have him announce his decision in front on 5 people

granted he had to take his time and find the right choice for him, but he's also got an ego. So I'm a little anxious about how his attitude will effect the team. .. we played as a team this past year, and that helped us as a program, and I credit Mullens and staff for it. So if Cam does come to State, I hope Mullens makes him have a slice of humble pie .. no doubt some of our players are tracking this saga. Cam thinks he is THE man.

it was the gayest most manufactured **** I've ever seen. Nobody there even really cared, and he didn't have hats or anything. After he announced his decision, you could hear crickets chirping. He looked stunned and had to wait a few seconds before people started clapping.

Cam is THE MAN...how is this any different than the other top 30-50 kids each year that have a big commitment announcement presser each year aroun the country? He is a top flight recruit- this is what they do...it's been so damn long since we have had one, some of you don't know how to react

And I daresay that his ineffectiveness was worse for team chemistry than a guy with an ego getting us to bowl games.

I guarantee you that as long as our WR's and RB's are getting their touches, and the team is winning, everyone will be happy.

Tyler Russell was just as big a recruit as Cam. He was rated a four star, number 12 in the nation. Cam was rated a 4 star, number 14 in the nation. Cam was being recruited by Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Mississippi State. Tyler Russell was recruited by Alabama, Arkansas, South Carolina, Mississippi State. So yes, we have signed a big time recruit as recently as last year.

Newton is very talented, but his is also very, very much about himself. Much moreso than your average big time recruit. That doesn't mean I won't take him, but I'll call a spade a spade, too. He's a drama queen, plain and simple.

I think you understood my post to mean I was having concerns about him coming to State. Certainly, I want him on the team .. I just hope Mullen gets his ego in check.

Cam is the highest rated QB on Rivals- that's Number 1- not 12 or 14...and he has Les his team to a juco NC...this is a much bigger deal than Russell ever was... Newton has a good chance to be the first QB from State in the NFL in the modern era..that's a big deal for us

A. First of all- Dan seemed to do OK keeping egos in check this past season. If this was Jackie Sherrill circa 2002, I'd be worried.

B. Secondly, why would Dan be recruiting a guy that he thinks will ruin the team?

There is no "s" at the end of his name. Similarly, there is no "s" at the end of Croom. I know that sometimes people accidentally make typing errors, but that is stupid and there is no excuse for it. You piss me off.

JC can you please just let one post regarding a QB go without sucking Tyler Russel's D. We get it you were a tuba player at MHS when he played there and you have a man crush on him, but the amount of D sucking you do of TR on here is ridiculous. I think Russell will be good in time but don't kid yourself he won't have nearly the impact that Cam will next year. Its not even close. Let him be a prima dona he's the number one QB recruit in the country period.
