I'll explain. A game with Pitt is like going to a meeting with your ex-wife who hates you. In the past there were some good times, then there were some bad times then the ex-wife got really bitter. It's best to just leave it all in the past.

Second point is college football is busy sorting itself into the haves and have nots and Pitt is a have not, so no.
Isn't Pitt subject to the same ACC contract restrictions that prevent Florida State, Miami and Clemson from running to the SEC? by the time those schools can be free of the ACC contract terms, it would seem the conferences all got settled.

So we get the Hoopies of WVU to rekindle memories of the mythical ‘Big-East’ rivalries long ago 😜 and also give them a legit beat-down/warmup for their Backyard Brawl vs the PITT’ers 2 weeks later in Morgantown (Hoopies get the Dukes of Duquesne week 2, to lick their wounds and warmup for the true showdown Sept 16th)🤣🤣

I've always kind of wondered why the are never talked about
Something to consider, but I believe Michigan had more control over Pitt becoming a member of the big ten than Psu ever did.

If memory serves me correctly, when the U of Chicago de-emphasized big time football and dropped out of the big ten around 1949-50, I believe the big ten was prepared to invite Pitt. However, the Michigan legislature wanted Michigan State added to the league to replace Chicago and I believe they threatened state funding to Michigan unless they supported MSU being added to the league.

Same. My ex was a good person but oil and water. When I got divorced I heard from a dozen mutual friends that they knew we wouldn’t be able to make it work. Too different. Wish they’d told me earlier.
Ha,ha even if they held an intervention back then you wouldn’t have listened. Just like several million of the rest of us dolts.

How can you not see a 300 pound person?
Lol, ask my wife. Captain Oblivious, that’s me, not exaggerating.

When I was a kid went to the Martin School at 22nd and Brown in Fairmont, Philadelphia, it was a school for the deaf. The school is a block from the Eastern State Penitentiary, a huge, imposing building; we drove by it every day. Decades later I was having a conversation with a former classmate at Martin and she mentioned the penitentiary. “What penitentiary?” My wife and kids have a million other stories. I’m legendary.

Gonna guess that for ASWP the ACC would waive the GoR.

I do have an ex wife as well. But I’d rather kiss a 300 lb cousin than be within 100 yards of the ex.
This thread has taken a very strange turn.

Maybe, but I'm just some guy who went to Michigan. I get it. Pitt joining and you guys playing them would be kind of like our rivalry with MSU. It would be a gutter war with no real upside for PSU, outside of having a rivalry game. Don't know how much that means to alot of you. Its just they are a solid program that kind of sits there in a location that makes sense but it seems like they are never mentioned.

Let’s reduce it to a personal level. If you knew a grudge carrying, spiteful, jealous, whiny individual that badmouthed you constantly would you invite them to your house for a party?

Ok. Pitt. Solid program.

Now we know you're just trolling.

They have double digit wins precisely twice this century. And if you go nine wins, it doesn't add much to the total. They are a perennial also ran in perhaps the worst division in P5. Their bowl record is putrid, and they draw about as many fans as a decent Texas HS team.

The only thing worse than admitting Pitt to the BIG would be admitting Rutgres. At least Rutgres has all those Manhattan TV sets tuned in every Saturday (snark intended).

When I use “we”, I’m referring to the fans that watch games for entertainment. Whatever money is made off the game is of no interest to me or any other fan I know.
Didn't realize that "we" made scheduling or budgeting decisions.

Market value to TV contract would be minimal. Screw Pitt and Syracuse
Market value to the TV contract wouldn't be minimal....it would be goddamn near zero.

Edit....upon reflection, the impact would actually be negative. There is no way the contract value increase would exceed the revenue share the sPitters would get.

The Big 10 already has the Pittsburgh market covered. The Big 12 does not as West Virginia only brings so many eyeballs.

My crystal ball says the Big 12 is going to 20 teams and beyond and May promote the development of a couple rivalries. This will coincide with a 10 game conference schedule. Pitt, WVU, and Cincinnati make a good little grouping for games that may be compelling to the market. Same for basketball.

As someone mentioned above, it’s too bad only one person had the vision to create an all east conference.

Of course ND is still in play and can convince conferences to give them a sweet deal. That would change the grouping. ND doesn’t seem to be all that interested in the Big 10.
