Brady Cook may be the most competitive guy in college football.

Even playing with multiple injuries, including a bad wrist on his throwing hand, I think he has a career day.

Does that mean somebody in Vegas thinks we can play defense for four quarters? I've been watching this bunch all season, and I've been watching Missouri all season. I don't see it happening. I wish I did, but I have no illusions about this year's team and coaching staff.
And in fairness, have we had a game all year when our offense has clicked for four quarters either? Seems like we always get two, maybe 2.5 quarters from them, but never a full game

This is a team that went 11-2 last season.. is 7-3 (their only losses to top 25 teams) this season and ranked inside the top 25.

The fact the OP thinks this game is teed up for us and a team that has a group of guys that has had the above success if going to lay down or be unmotivated... again is one of the dumber things anyone could post....

but we are dealing with GOAT, whose only here to drum up conversation with dumb takes such as this. Again once you get past the 8 year old level, this guy understands nothing about football

Does a win or loss really change anyone’s opinion of lebby? If lebby wins, are you suddenly going to think maybe he’s the right guy? People that have hope in lebby aren’t likely to lose it based on a loss to Missouri.

Im not criticizing your take on Lebby being the wrong guy. Certainly seems reasonable given where we are right now. I just don’t think the results really matter in changing any fans opinion anyway.
There are two things that I think it does, and by “it”, I don’t necessarily mean a W. I just mean a legit, down to the wire SEC dogfight that we haven’t seen all year

1) Blind hope is all that any of us have at this point because lord knows that we haven’t seen much of anything from this staff on the field or on the recruiting trail all year to definitively show us that we’ve got the right guy. Maybe some won’t care about Saturday either way, but watching this team go toe to toe against a top 25 SEC team with this roster would be a big feather in his cap for me. Probably the first one if we’re being honest

2) The other thing I think you’ve got to look at is anticipation for next season. If this team goes 2-10, they’re completely uncompetitive in these last two, they recruit a bottom of the barrel SEC class, and they run it back with this coaching staff, fan interest in this team will be at all time low levels. I get what your saying about one game not changing a ton in the grand scheme, but there are so many fans desperate for some glimmer of hope, and Saturday could be that glimmer

……or at least a VERY competitive loss. Nobody wants to talk about this, because I think most want to hold onto hope. But if we can’t motivate this team to get up for this, vs a beat down dejected team on our field, then we have real problems. The same problems me and a select few others been telling everyone about since we noticed them very early in the Lenny Error.

The staff has to give us something this year. Anything. This game is teed up for him. Wounded team, dejected from being eliminated from playoffs, second road game in a row. Have to make it happen.

Looking at Arkansas portal class and ours, its no comparison.

don’t worry though, we’re hitting the juco ranks heavy. They’ve got Petrino working the portal. I know where this is going.
I don't get too down on Lebby about the portal, matter of fact, I think the portal is one reason we suck so bad. In his position, if you're going to try and blame the previous staff, you need to at least keep their players, rather than get in the portal and downgrade.

Plus, Arkansas' staff has been in place for a while, so it's expected they'd do better in the portal. Although Leach came right in and hit the portal hard, and with good results.

So Lenny really just loses in both scenarios.

He’s just buttering it up so when they get smoked Saturday he can be **really** mad about Lebby.
I'm just trying to help ya'll. The fake selling of hope from the middle age and old codgers during Templetoes/Croom was very eye-opening for many of us who were young alumni back in them furious days. How you gonna tell somebody who grew up during the Kang Era that the Croom results were something we should just accept because muh NeXt YeAr?

Thank the Lord we had Cohen, or we'd have done the same shlt with Moorhead.

Same routine with Salmon and Lenny.

you dont support anything. You dont go to games. You dont give. You sit on your porch and complain about the good ol days that werent even that good.

This program needs some stability. Hopefully Lebby will bring that to us... this hire doesnt need to be a home run hire. It would be great if it was, but after striking out more times than not since mullen, a single would be nice.

Go back to sitting on your porch and talking about the days gone by and how you know how to fix all the problems.... one of the most idiotic posters on this board

Players recruited to run one system don't always work in a new one. When you are running a niche system that is almost a given. That's why niche systems are one of the worst rabbit holes a program can fall in to.

This season is over. We’re not winning Saturday or next Friday. The tale on Lebby will be told in his assistant coach firings & hirings & his portal recruiting this off-season. I’m not optimistic, but we’ll see. And yes, if we win one of these last two games, my opinion will change.
I don't see us winning tomorrow. I can see us winning next Friday IF the Univ of Northern MS Black Bears were to lose to FL tomorrow. I think there's a chance they will implode, give up, and yes some of them w/draw and not even play against us Friday. But, will we have any motivation to play them hard, remains to be seen. I think there's way less motivation w/ todays players about the Egg Bowl when the roster is a revolving door w/ players from all over the place, there's no extra motivation for them like years past w/ a roster loaded w/ MS boys

Ole Miss is going to drop 70 on them next Friday. Kiffin will try to humiliate Lebby.

Have you seen our defense play? That's a talent gap from the jump. Every and I mean EVERY offense we have played has had more talent on the field when compared to our defense.
It’s a talent & coaching gap. Coaches did a very poor job bringing in portal players. But the talent isn’t nearly as bad as that 3-3 scheme we ran vs an ASU QB who cant throw. Even jr high coaches are smarter than that.

Next week will all depend on if OM is still in the playoff hunt.

If yes, 63-3
If no, 49-9

I would at least like us to play well coming off a bye week
Oh yeah, that's one more thing.

1) Mizzou just eliminated from playoff contention (though they were never truly in it), thus deflation;
2) They just suffured a hard fought, tough loss;
3) This is their second road game in a row;
4) We are playing at home in the afternoon with good weather, crowd should be slightly better;
5) We are coming off a bye week;
6) Brady Cook is beat up, and a starting WR is out;
7) They are a good team, not a great team, the true top teams on their schedule blew them out;

That's a lot of evidence that tells me if we don't show up and play this team hard tomorrow, then our staff doesn't have what it takes.

sounds like a 4th grade peewee give em hell speech... all that means absolutely nothing when the ball gets kicked off... and does even help bridge the gulf in talent. like it or not, mizzou has been one of the best teams in the country the last 2 years. They are 18-5 in their last 23 games.

Yeah. Someone is trying way too hard to rationalize a win this weekend & trying to make it way too complicated. It’s pretty simple. Missouri is a good team. We are a very bad team. The result should be very predictable.

and if its anything other than predictable... its a big upset and we should be thrilled... as we just beat one of the better teams in the sec over the last two seasons.

Maybe just me, but I didn’t know we were still waiting on the “real problems” to get here. I was fairly certain that they showed up at some point between Leach dying, and this year’s Toledo game.

Well, those are already here.....and the worst part is that we'll be stuck with shltshow 2 more years even though it'll be proven that he can't get it done.

On the bright side.. the weather is suppose to be good... which somehow gives any home team in america a better chance of winning a football game.

I think he’s fired in November 2025 at the latest, if next year looks anything like this year. And its not a certainty that it would even take that long.
That becomes even more likely if Kiffen goes medieval in the egg bowl.

Yeah. If next year goes like I think it’s going to go, he can’t survive. I hope I’m wrong.

edit for clarity: I hope I’m wrong about how next year will go. Not him surviving if it does.

Right I agree... if its another train wreck he's gone.. but any marginal improvement will get him year 3... and its hard not to think he'll have any issues improving on this... thus my taking the over on next november.

Year 3 will be the put up or shut up year.. and if it doesnt work out at the very least it should have stabilized the ship enough to where we can afford someone, and someone will want to come.

The end results of this season mean nothing.... its already determined we are going 2-10... if we manage to win 1 one more by miracle, it will only lenghten the rope Lebby has

He can't get blown out at home by Missouri, with the parameters I listed above. Just can't do it. We have to be competitive. This is an important data point.
