Wannstadt, Petersen, Shanahan (he and Foley are reportedly friends). But Stoops remains at the top. Apparently Meyer is remaining affiliated with the UF ath dept after stepping down (no word on his title), but that seems like just a way to keep that f'n top 3 class together. The new guy would have to have second thoughts knowing meyer was hanging around practice.

That makes me worry more about Mullen. Those bigger names like Stoops or Shanahan, at least I would think, would want to be in complete control of the football program. </p>

Jeremy Foley is the alpha male of UF athletics. He would never let meyer stand in the way of the best man for the job. But if the idea is to bring in Dan Skywalker to meyer's yoda, I could see that being a possibility.

Whittingham, Patterson and PetersEn have undefeated seasons and their teams are never allow to play for a national title. All three are closer to Meyer's age and head coaching experience than Mullen. Surely one of those guys would love a chance at the Florida gig just to have a shot at the national title. Maybe it is just wishful thinking on my part.

Patterson is a heck of a coach and has done a great job at TCU, but I just don't think he is a great fit for UF. He's pretty rough around the edges. I would compare that hire to UK hiring Billy Gillespie. Good coach, but not a good fit.

I would put Peterson ahead of Mullen if Meyer wasn't going to still be around. But he is, so Mullen seems like a better fit.
