Sometimes out of nowhere I think of Journey Brown

So crushing. Part of it is, of course, how much better we would have been last year if only. But how hard it must be for him, wow, it’s painful to contemplate. Still, he had one of the greatest sendoffs any of us have ever seen; I’m sure he’s as proud of that as we are. A great Nittany Lion.

That kid was on his way to being tremendous and following SB and MS to the NFL. No doubt about it! The man upstairs has a plan for everyone and I hope Journey is doing the life work that has been called upon him. Best of luck to him in whatever he is doing.
“The man upstairs has a plan for everyone...” Thanks for the reminder.

I haven't really thought of him, until I saw him come on the field for Senior Day, Rutgers game. What a sad turn of events , and I hope he is doing well. After the Cotton Bowl, it seemed like he was set up for big things.

Would’ve been Psu’s next great RB. He’s got to think of his health though. I wish him success in whatever he pursues.

Even a back as talented as JB would have had difficulty running the ball this season.
true, but he'd still have made a huge difference. guys just couldn't get to the edge fast enough for anything outside.

Very sad, but I wish him great success in his future endeavors and career and life in general. That is more important than being able to play a game, although I’m sure he misses it dearly.

actually, I think about him especially when we talk about not having "home run hitters" in the backfield. it is like bad things happen to good people. he seemed like such a great young man. I am sure he was next RB in the NFL. I hope he winds up in a good place. I also wonder if he had this same condition at some other schools whether he would still be playing.

But…….
He doesn't have Myocarditis so posting this has no relevance to this conversation.

From the article I linked above:

"Following a COVID-19 test in September 2020, Brown was eventually diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a form of heart disease that causes abnormal thickening of the the heart muscle (the condition was not related to COVID, Franklin said at the time)."

I know people talk a lot about his first TD run in the Cotton Bowl, where he simply would not go down. And that was a great run. But his 50-some yard run later in the first quarter was one of the most impressive bursts of football speed I've ever seen. I mean it is just ridiculous how far out in front of everybody else he is. He would have completely transformed the offense last year. For his sake, though, so very glad they found his problem before it put his long-term health any further at risk.

Sorry I thought that was his condition and I had hope. Merry Christmas

Sorry if that came off harsh. I re-read and I could have used better wording. Merry Christmas to you as well. I hope Journey does great things in life, as he's been though a lot prior to his PSU career.

I had forgotten it was in the Memphis game that Mr. Brown set the PSU bowl game record for yards rushing. His was a thrilling performance. We all know how hard he worked to get to that point. It was a privilege to watch him play.

No worries. He was a favorite of mine, I was just hopeful. As mentioned I had the wrong condition. That said I am still hopeful
