Shmuley is correct they are Flock high speed license plate readers. Several years ago our neighborhood had an issue of car break ins and we had a meeting with Desoto county Sheriff's office. They told us OB was going to implement license plate cameras in the near future.
Okay. But why have the traffic enforcement sign on it? The sign could say something like security camera in use or Big Brother is Watching You something along those lines. So hopefully that is it.

Those signs have been up as long as I have lived in Desoto county and predate the cameras. The Sheriff Officer explained to us that they only record the plate number, picture of the vehicle during the day and can not be used to enforce traffic violations. They wanted our HOA to install one of the cameras at the entrance to the neighborhood in case we had another issue.

No. The sign is on the post that they put up for the device. It is hanging off the big silver box. Those posts did not exist before the cameras were put up. And these boxes I am talking about are just on each street that goes into OB. Are there Traffic enforcement signs in other places in DeSoto county? Yes, I am sure there are.

Unless this was a long time ago, Mississippi should not have suspended your license for a camera ticket from out of state. If TN did not properly indicate how the ticket was given, probably more efficient to just pay the ticket than get it reinstated from Mississippi side, but you should have been able to get that addressed without having to pay the ticket. Again, assuming this wasn't right when the camera tickets became a thing before everybody had figured them out.
it was quit some time ago. Actually, it may have been a regular speeding ticket now that I'm thinking about it. Was to long ago 15+ years to have been cameras.

My bad, disregard my previous posts on this subject.

They are legal in Tennessee and sadly whoever the vehicle is registered to gets the ticket. My ex wife ran a light up there in the truck I gave her in the divorce. She never switched the title so I received the ticket. I explained. They didn't care. I told them good luck getting paid. Might have a warrant in Tennessee...lol

You got bad info unless its changed since this past May:

TN mailed tickets not enforceable

That's how LEO's tracked the Bourbon Street Murderer from Houston to NOLA and the Vegas Cyber Truck from Colorado, there are cameras everywhere tracking you.

You are supposed to have the right to face your accuser. How can you do that if the accuser is a traffic scamera?
You have the right to question witnesses against you. I presume that if you go to court, there will be a human being who is the actual formal witness against you. Really not different from a security camera in a burglary. The camera isn't a witness, it's evidence. That said, I hate the idea of the state monitoring everyone. I also hate the idea of jack asses endangering my family and others by hauling *** down city streets and blowing through red lights, so I don't know on this one where I am.

The City of Oxford is saying hold my beer…

Subsequent Weeks: Use of Speed Enforcement Technology
After the first week, officers will continue monitoring traffic in the same areas and during the same time periods, using speed enforcement technology equipped with cameras to identify vehicles exceeding the speed limit by more than 10 MPH. Speeding drivers will not be pulled over; instead, they will receive a citation by mail. This citation will be an official City of Oxford speeding ticket, and recipients will have the same due process rights as those who are stopped by an officer. However, this program offers additional options for resolving citations that are not typically available with traditional traffic citations.

Sounds like Oxford is rolling with the Intellisafe radar cameras. Brought to you by the same people that ran the insurance verification camera money grab - Ocean Springs city attorney Robert Wilkinson, Frontier Strategies folks, et al…

Toby Barker let them run a pilot program in Hattiesburg. The premise (according to Intellisafe) is that the law bans “automated cameras”, but these are “manned cameras” that an officer holds and operates. The benefit to police is that it takes pics of the plate so that automated tickets can be mailed, instead of a time-consuming traffic stop. They claim that the cameras identify the driver, but how can they?

just an update....since I take a kid to OMS everyday....they were out in full force yday....only we were running a little late, and there was no car in front or behind me....it was being run by an actual officer....wild thing was this guy was putting it on me, and as i was passing him, he turned to follow me to get my tag....I was going 3 mph under the speed limit and i started to flip my S!ht about getting a damn ticket....So I mentioned earlier my cousin is an OPD officer. I called him about it, and asked if it was legal, and he said yes, so as long as an actual person is running the machine. Then i complained about possibly getting a ticket earlier in the day and he told me to stop being a Karen. LOL

I am waiting for Olive Branch to do something with their Border Cameras like that. There is this device on each street that enters OB and a sign that says "traffic laws strictly enforced". The information I have found is that they record every vehicle that drives into OB in case a crime is committed. I just don't buy that is what they are ultimately for.
You're corrrect. The tag readers are primarily used for detecting people outside of Desoto Co. bringing their kids to the schools here. Desoto Co. has several unmarked undercover officers trying to catch these individuals illegally bringing their children into some better schools.
