It's a tradition and fans of all ages know how to sing along. What other song meets that criteria?
I don't remember ever hearing it when I was a student, and we didn't have loudspeakers blaring music anyway- and didn't need it. We did go 11-0, 11-0, 7-3, and 11-1 though. Not a bad four-year run. Lose the song.

Answer the question. What other song can get 110,000 to sing along?
I’m not wasting the time to think about it. ****** song that sucks being played at sporting events. Only became that popular in our stadium after BOT banned it. When it came back seems like almost all wanted to sing it as a FU to BOT.

Hell, I remember games prior to it being banned and coming back where it was not even played every game.

You probably didn't have a huge Whiteout with fireworks and 110,000 people either.

Sweet Caroline and Hey Baby are crowd pleasers — I say keep ‘em!

And yeah, they’re not geezer pleasers — too bad. The portion of the crowd they do engage are the ones we really need amped up to keep the stadium atmosphere rocking.

I did not like the previous announcer but the new guy was worse - much worse. Actually the worst announcer I have ever heard at any stadium.

God rest his soul, but Buffet was a no talent artist.
You may not care for his music, but "no talent" is a ludicrous statement.

There was a time when ABC Records was pushing Jim Croce and Jimmy Buffett heavily. Unfortunately Croce died and the singer-songwriter genre as a whole kinda died out. But I'm guessing the execs at ABC knew a bit about talent.

Jimmy may not have a fantastic voice, and he certainly was no guitar master, but that's not what it was ever about. Its the stories and the places he takes you. And damn can that man put on a show.

You're probably one of those people who hear Margaritaville and Cheeseburger in Paradise on the radio and write him off as a gimmick. That's hardly the case. There is some really good stuff out there, especially his early stuff. Not every song has to be some deep thinking, soulful, depressing opus to be "good". Music is allowed to be fun.

Do they still have the horribly loud sound system?
Yes! It's brutal. When the speakers are breaking up and distorting it might be a clue that it's too LOUD. Not to mention that it never stops. Every second right up to the snap. Sometimes even when PSU had the ball. I didn't think it could get worse but it has. Reminds me of a minor league baseball game. Why have an announcer when he can't be heard over the music. I kept thinking, who do I have to bribe for 30 seconds of quite, aka crowd noise only. I don't care what music they play, just turn it down. I'm actually there for the game not a bone rattling concert. What a concept. If I want LOUD music I can have that in my living room. At least there it won't be distorted from the volume.

PS I knew the announcer would be bad when they didn't announce who one the coin toss. That seemed odd. Maybe they did and I didn't hear it because the LOUD music drowned him out.

Or my personal favorite, although its a big lengthy in time...American Pie.
Oh and please, no more Shout unless its the one by Tears for Fears.

The coin flip was bad. No mention of who won, or who flipped the coin.
It was a bad night for the stadium crew, Sound system is just the worst, Stadium announcer was bad, Radio broadcast was a complete cluster, Scoreboards had down and distance wrong many times. Other game scores were hard to find and when you did see them they were teams no one cared about.
I'm missing the Delaware game but I hope they have this $hitt fixed by Iowa, at least the scoreboard and Radio broadcast. I don't expect anything from the sound system because its been like that for 15 years.

I suspect they would perform minor repairs/adjustments but any major spending will have to wait and be part of the stadium renovation project.

I know a lot of people did not like Dean but this new announcer was useless. He would only mention the PSU player who made a tackle. He never called who the players were for WVU and rarely indicated yardage, down, or distance.

I've attended dozens and dozens of games at the Beav. Can't remember one time when I depended on or even noticed any game details being provided the PA announcer. My thought? If you're paying attention, know a bit about football and check out the scoreboard for down and distance (if needed) what the PA announcer says is redundant. Just IMO.

That's kind of of the problem though, the scoreboard was often wrong on Sat. Night. wrong downs and distance, add to that the absolute cluster *** of a radio broadcast and you get people, like me, complaining.
But I agree about the announcer. I never paid much attention to him in past years because I listened to Steve and Jack. That was virtually impossible on Sat. night. And we can't depend on the WIFI or Cell coverage to be able to do anything.

I hear people on this Board complain about the sound and sound choices at PSU football games ALL THE TIME. Just curious if any of you have sent correspondence to the University on this topic. If so, did you receive a response?

Again, here was part of the issue. I think you can expect better on Saturday.
