Since starting pitching seemed to be the biggest concern coming into the season, I find their performance so far to be encouraging.
Below are the season stats for the 4 guys that have started games for us this season.

Innings PitchedEarned RunsHitsStrikeoutsWalksOpp BAvgERA
Pico11.115220.1350.79
Ligon7.016113.2221.29
Simmons7.011106.0501.29
Foster*5.211750.531.59
*Fosters numbers include his 2 appearances out of the pen.

Obviously we haven't played the stiffest competition, but regardless these numbers are solid.

Also, the bullpen has been solid as well leading to a team ERA of 2.02:

We've played nobody outside USM, and the jury is still out on them. Not saying starting pitching is bad, but a wait and see situation. Pico looks solid, the rest look like a committee situation so far.

Missouri State is usually a good team. Is that not the case this year?

TBD. They went 23-34 last year. Expected to be one of the best teams in their conference this year, but we will see. Definitely better than Manhattan who got run ruled all three games by Charleston Southern this weekend.

I think everything here is TBD. I was disappointed with the Southern game but the team looks decent. Better competition will show more

We have a Friday guy - after that we don't know any more than we did 3 weeks ago.

I’m encouraged by Pico and our depth.

I’m discouraged by the number of walks, given the competition. Some of those numbers aren’t sustainable if the walk rate stays where it is (or gets worse as competition improves).

Completely agree.

11 of our 29 walks (38%) have come from just 2 pitchers (Simmons & Foster), both of whom I expect have better command as the the season continues
They're also 22% of our innings pitched. So yeah, they're the biggest offenders, but there are several guys with fewer innings and almost as many walks. Of course, it's early and small sample size. But it's got to be a concern.
