Sharpe kind of got screwed by not being name one of the 3 Senior finalists to be voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Last year he was one of the 6 Senior finalists but not one of the 3 Senior Finalists elected to the Hall of Fame.

Many felt that was a sign that this time Sharpe would be elected and enshrined in 2024. Not many players seemed to have as many advocates as Sterling for Canton, including his brother and Brett Favre among others.

The knock on Sterling is longevity, yet one of the finalist this season (expected to be voted into the hall) is WR Art Powell. Below is what was written about Sharpe and Powell in an article last month.:

Despite Sharpe’s biggest criticism being his longevity, he was able to record more receptions (595) and receiving yards (8,134) than Powell, who will likely be approved for the Hall of Fame next year.

Starting to wonder if Sterling will ever make it in. It’s been well documented that Sharpe might has been the 2nd best WR of all-time behind Jerry Rice, had he had a full career. I was confident he would eventually make it, but to see this step back from being a finalist last year makes me wonder if there are voters that want to keep Sharpe out. During his time in Green Bay, Sharpe would not meet with the media. He felt they made up stories about things he didn’t say, so he just stopped talking to them. Wonder if this is biting him in the a$$ many years later?

Sure would be nice to see a former Gamecock in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
