I’m hoping you’re right but where is that info that they are out? It was a couple of weeks ago that they didn’t know who Stokes was talking about when he said he didn’t want to duck smoke. Did I miss where he knocked these people off of his list?

Exactly! That’s what I think seperates him. ANGRY. If we get him everyone will see that angry along with plenty of talent along with top transfers and other freshman holy ****. Angry makes him different than other like pooper Flagg but that’s something he’s gonna have to prove.

Probably won't happen but yeah, we could get all three...Stokes, Holt and Rippey Jr. It's nice to be in that discussion but it's not as big as pre-nil. It's almost like...go after the ONE generational #1 recruit every year...hard. Then let the chips fall where they may.
Stokes reminds me of the SF Cal could never reel in here to complete a team. Like a Jason Tatum style wing who can really dribble and drive the ball. If his shooting catches up to his athleticism he will be tough.
I’d really love Rippey more than almost any other player in the class. I haven’t heard much momentum with him lately, but hopefully after his visit it picks up again.
I’m hoping we land the first one and the others really like and want to play together. Maybe if Stokes commits he can do a little recruiting.
To me stokes is overrated. That’s just what I feel from watching him. The last #1 player I thought was overrated and said as much here was Skal, so hopefully he commits and I’m wrong here. I don’t see an AD type of impact, or even Randle. Nothing concrete, just something about his game I’m not in love with. I can rarely describe it, but know it when I see it.
Even still, Pope needs to land him and hopefully I’ll get to eat one. It would do a lot for us to continue the place of the pros mantra all while mixing in the portal like Cal couldn’t and wouldn’t do here. It’s important for Pope to show it wasn’t a Calipari thing, it’s a Kentucky thing, always has been always will be. Just land a few of these and all of that is set in stone.

That’s probably right, this class isn’t that staked according to most “experts.” That said it’s still a nice thing to get recruiting momentum. Maybe he turns out better than we think or maybe he sticks around an extra year because of NIL if he’s not quite ready. Most likely won’t happen, but not out of the realm of possibility due to a bunch of factors now.

Stokes to me is not on Boozer/AJ/Peterson/Flagg level, but he is definitely on tre johnson/mikel brown level.

Not crazy to have that opinion I just don’t get how yall don’t see it. This guy is 6’8 solid not thin at all. Can shoot, dribble, drive, create contact, has a good motor, super aggressive.
I have him above those guys. I actually think boozer is super overrated myself. None of those guys are as powerful and smooth and Stokes imo.

Boozer is legit. That kid brings it every time in big games he has played in. I don’t know about his brother and how good he will be but the big one reminds me of his dad a lot.

That’s not how this works now. Pope can have anyone he wants. Just like you can buy a Ferrari. The catch is you probably also like to eat but have no money because you spent everything on a Ferrari. Pope has the same issue. He has to live within a budget and field a complete team.
Stokes is a semi-professional and will maximize his income. This is the new normal. We are nothing more than a potential income source just like every other team. The brand has no value in this new normal.

Adding to that momentum, 247 Sports has placed a Crystal Ball prediction for Stokes to commit to Kentucky with a 6/10 confidence rating, which means other experts will soon start doing the same, with hopefully a commitment coming soon.
Thankfully I don't think Duke is recruiting him. Still means Oregon is still in play, so it will be expensive.

I would think so, they would make it work for Stokes, but they have gotten 4 commits in the past 8 days in the freshman class. Thats a lot of spots taken for NIL. I don’t know their roster status, but you would think they want some spots for the portal as well.
It wouldn’t shock me with the crystal balls staring to roll in. It would be sweet to get a class started with him and then Focus purely on Rippey to go with him.
Love to see a class of Stokes, Rippey and Holt/Howard in magical Christmas land. (I really like Collins game also but I think we don't land him if we land Stokes). But mostly just want to see Coach Pope keep knocking down those "Pope's Never Done This" walls.
I don't know if Dioubate is leaving after this year, might be a 2-year starter at the 4.
I think Rippey may wait until next April or May to see how all the schools on his list will shape out the roster

Have my doubts on UK Landing Rippey. He's going to want to run the show and with low possibly coming back I think he'll go elsewhere where he knows he can play from day one. We'll see how the temperature reading is after he leaves tomorrow
