If it's all about making noise with hiring's, Clemson has won that game!
I just want to win, so I'm trusting Beamer to continue the upward trend without the splash hire.
The staff (not big names) he's put together thus far is a good one and has produced winning results.

clemson fans are excited. I'm kind of envious, not so much because they got Riley. I'm envious because clemson proves again they will do whatever is necessary to win big. We, on the other hand....... Do you ever get the feeling that the college football world is a tuxedo, and Carolina is a pair of loafers?
Then again, what has Carolina done to attract top notch coaches?

For me, as a Clemson fan, I am just as excited about Dabo bringing in "fresh blood" and someone from outside of the program as I am about the "name" he hired. The offense has become very stagnant and painful to watch at times, whether it be a QB or OC issue.

Many Clemson fans were a little uneasy about both coordinators being promoted from within last year and we saw some of the reasons we were uneasy come to life not only in the 3 losses but in some of the wins as well (Syracuse). I think change had to be made somewhere, and I'm glad we brought in someone from the outside after many years of the same eyes on the offense.

That was an amazing 188 yards of total offense that GR put on Georgia in the NC game. LOL.

And that was with Georgia's entire starting defense eating chicken wings on the sidelines most of the 4th quarter. LOL LOL
UGA had TCU seeing (recruiting) stars, a pointed lesson for all the guys on this here board that say *s don't matter.

The nations top coordinator, right?

And they actually have a qb now. Might not be mind blowing, but they won't waste any more snaps on that ukulele kid.

Not a good combo (for us).
DJU was better during his freshman year than Klubnik was....quite a bit better and played a lot more downs to show it.

Is Riley bringing an OL with him? Any OC can win 9-10 games against their lame-arse schedule, but without better blocking and coaching they are not going to return to being "elite". Maybe Riley will put in a few plays that will allow Klubnik to run 20-30 yards backwards before he throws it out of bounds.

Why does everyone want to give Riley the credit for TCUs offensive prowess? Remember Sonny Dykes is the HC and he has a long history of turning around and putting out offensive powerhouses. Also, the offense that TCU ran doesn't appear to be the same one that GR ran at previous stops.

They do it so they can enjoy their paranoia.

I'm sure I'd have been looking at things differently if we had hired him. But his OC stop at SMU is hard to judge. They play nobody and their offenses were shut down by Cincinnati, the only good team they played. One year at TCU, but, as you point out, that could be as much about Dykes as Riley.

SMU played nobody, but also had "nobody" talent on offense. I've always been of the opinion you can tell a lot about lower level coaching because they are playing with similar talent. Jmo

Nice splash hire. This guy has a Brother as Southern California as a HC and is fast tracking on becoming one himself. The bad news for Clemson is he may only be there a year. If he gets a lot out of that offense next year he's getting an offer from a very good program and he'll bolt.
What defense in that weak a$$ conference can stop him from being successful?

I find it comical some of our posters refer to him as the #1 oc in the country. Pretty subjective topic.

Well, he won the Broyles award as the top assistant, so that would make him the #1 OC.

Is he actually the best? Probably not, but he's certainly the hottest commodity.

I think Klubnik will do well as he gains experience despite who the OC is. He has all the tools. Also think everyone needs to trust SB

I referred to him as that, because as pointed out, he was named the nation's top coordinator with the Broyles Award.

I wasn’t necessarily talking about you. TCU’s QB came in second for the Heisman. Still subjective….but your point is valid

That top coordinator award was a joke. TCU played a schedule made up of teams that play near to no defense at all. Even the ACC will provide tougher defenses to face.

Yep. Clemson fans are aware this is a short-term gig. But, at least one fan I texted with, said "whatever we're paying him, it's worth it if we beat y'all this season."

That's part of what separates us from Clemson at the moment. They will pay what they have to pay to get who they want to take them to the next level.
And we prefer to pay our transfer QB more than what it takes to get a great coach.

I think we should keep hoping his future career is determined by one game, and not all the others that led to the Broyles Award.

Dabo got his guy. Credit for that. Meanwhile Dabo is claiming the Name of God, Image of God, Likeness of God up in Pickens at the same time he’s deceptively going behind his OC’s back for a job search. Real up front kind of guy that Dabo is.

At least if it goes well, this will only be two or three year gig. Maybe only one if their offense blows up this year.
Yeah but Dabo is playing chess and y’all are playing checkers. Dabo has brought one of the best offensive minds in the game in to teach Jeff Scott how to coordinate an offense.

I agree, If successful Riley will be gone in 2 years, 3 tops… Then Scott will take over. But what about if Beamer has as much success in Columbia as he did last year?? Bye Bye Beamer!!

Plus Riley will be grooming Scott to take over when he leaves!!

The Loggains hire was just elevated from "has to succeed" to “absolutely positively has to be successful Year 1.”
The very first time the offense goes out and looks bad fans are going to pile on Loggains. It's not like the fans like the hire. They have to be proven wrong by him before he gets any respect.

Yeah, that 188 yards of total offense against Georgia was phenomenal. Only Vandy and Samford looked worse against them this year.

You never know. But it does make me feel good about our Head Coach and Carolina's football future that you are speculating that out loud.

Well, if Loggains struggles and Riley does well, our fan base will lose their collective you know what.
Some of them already are losing it again. Not as bad as after the hire then you would have thought it was the end of Carolina football.

In fairness, that is about all we had before they called the dogs off in the fourth quarter.

That's not "fairness". They called off the dogs in the entire 4th quarter for TCU too. The first string was eating chicken wings on the sidelines while the game was still going.

Like it or not, that is what happened. When Doty came in, we had amassed 9 first downs (1 on ST), 197 yards, and 0 points. I know that doesn’t fit your narrative, but that is what it is. Hopefully next year will be better.
