NC State leaked that trying to lock him up early
It's hilarious to me how these schools move on from problematic coaches like Beard and Wade and Freeze and then after maybe 2 or 3 years they are completely washed in the blood of the lamb and back coaching in the biggest leagues
It's almost like it's all a bunch of complete BS. Like these schools and fans and administrators actually never had any morals to begin with and were just faking it. Present company included.
I'll be really impressed the day (never happening) an AD comes to the podium and says "Yes, we acknowledge that Coach Crook likely beat his wife to a pulp and shot her dog, but this is an intense sport for intense people and he's just the psycho we need here at Polytech State U".

What did Wade do other than pay players, which is legal now and was happening everywhere back then?
I don't put him in the same bucket as Beard, who was arrested for beating a woman.
Jans did something lewd and inappropriate, was fired, spent two seasons as an assistant, five seasons at a mid-major, and then was hired by a major program after seven years of no more incidents.
Beard was arrested for beating a woman and was hired by a major program three months later.
I didn't think Beard should have been banned from coaching for life, but he shouldn't have been hired by a major program without any period of good behavior.
If he had spent time as an assistant or at a mid-major for some period of time without incident, I wouldn't have a problem with a major program hiring him.
The fact is Ole Miss hired him BECAUSE he beat a woman. They knew they would never have another opportunity to hire a coach as good as Beard. They couldn't wait for a period of good behavior because they aren't a good enough program to hire a coach as good as Beard without the woman he beat up still being black and blue. They were able to hire him because other programs weren't willing to. They were.
That woman had to get the **** kicked out of her so that Ole Miss could go to the NCAA tournament.
Pretty good coach for the money. Above average results. Not likely to ever put all the pieces together to win it all at a place like state.

Ok, that's a lot of opinion. I agree with some but not all.
My post was about the general hypocrisy of all these programs, us included.
It's comical and sad to me that we can't just be more honest publicly about the absolute fact that winning is what matters most at all times.
It's all about winning. Who really gives a 17 if a guy's good or not as long as he's bringing the W's to the institution.
I wouldn't dream of turning this into a political thread, but let's face it:

What hypocrisy are you referring to? Are you not able to separate Beard beating a woman from Wade paying players? The video of a drunk Jans in a bar? Hugh Freeze going to a massage parlor?
It would be hypocrisy if someone criticized Ole Miss for hiring Beard and then excused another school for... hiring a known woman beater.
Coaches aren't model citizens, but let's not pretend they're all the same, giving cover to people like Beard, who is particularly a piece of ****.

I used Wade as a throwaway. A coach who got fired for something he did, not his results. There are dozens of coaches I could have picked to make my point. Maybe don't focus on Wade, who you apparently celebrate Thanksgiving with.

I didn't see any of them do any of it and none of them were convicted of anything as far as I know. I'm not a fan of any of them and I'm not interested in figuring out who is the better dude because I don't spend any time with any of them.
