This was Taneyhill's senior season. We came into the game on a 3-game win streak and an offensive hot streak, having scored 77, 65 and 52 points in our previous three games, two of which were SEC wins. We had also tied #14 LSU four games prior. It looked like we were rounding into form. I was watching Gameday that morning and Corso (I think) commented that there seemed to be a correlation between the number of games for Charlie Ward's development under Brad Scott at FSU and Taneyhill's development, which corresponded to our offensive breakout in the previous 3 games. I don't think he predicted an upset, but there was a lot of anticipation for an offensive show in this game. We ended up losing 56-21.

Not sure what made me think of this game, other than I was dreaming of reasons to think we might pull the upset this weekend (the same as I was doing back in 1995). I was such a huge Taneyhill fan and was fairly crushed that the game didn't live up to expectations.

(And then I was at the UF game two weekends later. If I thought I was crushed the previous week, it was taken to a new level against UF)

Infamous blackout game vs. Florida was in 2001, not 1995. 1995 one was played in sub-zero temperatures & we lost 63-7.

Ha, yeah, my bad. I'm conflating UF beatdowns. I was at the 1995 shellacking. Upper deck, freezing my patootie off, but stayed til the bitter end.

Funny story. Sitting close with my girlfriend that night in the west upper. Trying to stay warm while observing a prison style sodomization on the field. She made an attempt to keep her hand warm in a way that 99% of the time would have been VERY OK by me, but not that night! It was soooooo cold that I knew I would not be up to standard, so I had to quickly give her an excuse. Thankfully, one section over, was an older couple that went to our church. I told her she'd better not put her hand there because I was worried they'd see what she was doing. Saved me some humiliation that night, I'll tell ya. Yeah, guys & gals.....it was THAT cold!

Was it not also rainy/drizzly/misting? Not sure. I do remember it was frigging cold and windy as heck in the uppers. I was with my brother. We were in town vising from TN and some friends of my parents told us they had 2 tickets. I was ELATED...thought I'd hit gold. I just knew Taneyhill was gonna light 'em up. My brother is a Clemson fan, and he was so mad at me for refusing to budge until the clock hit 00:00.

Nah. I don't recall any moisture. I do recall 20mph wind gusts at times though. A man couldn't have enough clothes on that night.

Good shot of the Bradstard in this sportscenter clip. You know if he was bundled up on the sidelines, it was gosh awful cold.

Found the full game on YouTube.

It's funny, Carolina football never changes.

Outstanding opening drive to get down to 2nd and goal from the 1. False start to make it 2nd and goal from the 6 killed the drive. UT blocked the FG try and returned it for a TD to go up 7-0. Game over.

Returned the ensuing kick to the UT 27. Picked up one yard. Went for it on 4th and 9, big sack by Little.

lol, wake me if you've heard this story before.

Also, the announcers note that Brad Scott is "Easily, aside from maybe the governor, the most popular man in the Palmetto State." That did not age well. haha
