This was Taneyhill's senior season. We came into the game on a 3-game win streak and an offensive hot streak, having scored 77, 65 and 52 points in our previous three games, two of which were SEC wins. We had also tied #14 LSU four games prior. It looked like we were rounding into form. I was watching Gameday that morning and Corso (I think) commented that there seemed to be a correlation between the number of games for Charlie Ward's development under Brad Scott at FSU and Taneyhill's development, which corresponded to our offensive breakout in the previous 3 games. I don't think he predicted an upset, but there was a lot of anticipation for an offensive show in this game. We ended up losing 56-21.
Not sure what made me think of this game, other than I was dreaming of reasons to think we might pull the upset this weekend (the same as I was doing back in 1995). I was such a huge Taneyhill fan and was fairly crushed that the game didn't live up to expectations.
(And then I was at the UF game two weekends later. If I thought I was crushed the previous week, it was taken to a new level against UF)
