The Olympics will never be the same…but that memory lives forever! My favorite sporting event of all-time. It meant a lot to me in ‘80 when I was 10 and still does. Tears of joy.
Simply the greatest moment in sports history and a turning point in the Cold War…could use something like that now…Remember it like it was yesterday... I was in 5th grade and sitting in my grandmother's living room watching a game show called... Joker, Joker, Joker! The show was abruptly cut out and Keith Martin from WBRE was sitting in his studio chair. On the background studio TV it read United States 4 Soviet Union 3 Final. Well, my first reaction was they did a whole lot better than anyone ever thought... Then, wait... They won? WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The game was not shown live so, I had to wait until I think 8 that night to watch the replay. To this day when I hear Al Michaels scream... Do you believe in miracales? I start to cry,
Not crying. Still.
I too was in my Grandparents house watching the game, I can remember being in the bedroom watching it, pretty sure it was a Saturday night and I'd already had my Spaghetti and meatballs that evening, Saturdays were always pasta.. I remember jumping up and down on the bed, pure excitement and yes, can't top the Al Michaels call.Remember it like it was yesterday... try this one, skip to about the 8:20 mark to avoid the Michigan man and watch it to the end. If you are not crying, you are a soleless Pitter.
