This was the lead on the 11 o'clock news tonight. I sincerely hope that Matt didn't know this was going to be a hit piece. I've never seen the reporter covering this before on WNEP.
I watched the clip.
Before I comment further, why did you include the term āimplicatedā in your title?
Perhaps Iām missing something. As such, Iām hereby offering you the opportunity to explain, or amend, your clearly suggestive title.
Edited.Nice misleading subject line. The quotes in the article do nothing of the sort. This reporter, Albert, is not a very good reporter. This article has no substance other that McGloin supporting JoePa.
You are correct, however the common person has no interest in delving into any of that. They just swallow what MSM gives them with no questioning. It is, IMO, the dumbing down of America and the culprit is technology. Most people only accept brief sound bites. Good grief, just look at the crap that people post on Tik Tok. Itās frightening. It burns me up the hear the reporter call Joe Paterno disgraced. At least at the end of the segment the reporter says that his role in the scandal continues to be debated.
His role does continue to be debated and it will for some time to come. Joe did nothing wrong! Joe is of outstanding character as is Graham Spanier, Tim Curley and Gary Schultz. I believe the debate will continue until it becomes evident and commonly accepted that Jerry Sandusky never harmed any children. I believe that this premise has been shown to be true by many sources including John Ziegler's epic podcast "With the Benefit of Hindsight," John Snedden's report on his federal investigation into Graham Spanier's good character, Mark Pendergrast's comprehensive book on the case "The Most Hated Man in America," Ralph Cipriano's bigtrial blog entries on the Penn State Sex Abuse Scandal as well as numerous other articles and discussions on the subject.
About 6 or 7 years ago I had a co worker (that doesn't participate in social media) tell me that Facebook (social media) was going to end the world. In many ways he was/is correct. You are correct, however the common person has no interest in delving into any of that. They just swallow what MSM gives them with no questioning. I'd argue that's actually still the case because the threads are alive and well over there.
No there wasn't.And there was much rejoicing in the halls of the bot.
BS. They had the power to change the narrative and ran for cover. Surma says hello. No there wasn't.
You have no idea what was going on. No idea the ramifications. No idea what was discussed and with whom. NONE. You are an imbecile. Let's just agree on that.BS. They had the power to change the narrative and ran for cover. Surma says hello.
Iām not sure what qualifies as a JoeBot but if itās someone who thinks Joe got a raw deal and the University should say so, then I guess Iām a JoeBot.
It's been 10 years and "quit talking about it" hasn't worked as the news clip above proves. Believe me, I'm pissed that they ran it for no other reason than to drag a guys name through the mud for the one millionth time.I'd argue that's actually still the case because the threads are alive and well over there.
OK Surma. Do you get up every day and Google your name to see who might be on to you?You have no idea what was going on. No idea the ramifications. No idea what was discussed and with whom. NONE. You are an imbecile. Let's just agree on that.
They made sure to refer to Joe as "the disgraced coach" and to include the picture with Joe with his hand on JS shoulder as to portray they were connected at the hip. SSDDPerhaps itās just me, but I didnāt read/view this as a hit piece. More like just marking a significant milestone (10 years) in time since Joeās dismissal. Itās absolutely debatable whether or not it justifies as ānews.ā The reporting was clunky, but I donāt think it was trying to sell a narrative, and I thought Matt was very complimentary of Joe.
For all intents and purposes, he was disgraced. We can definitely debate the merits by which he was let go, but the fact of the case is that he was fired. I absolutely get that this is (rightfully) still a painful topic for a lot of us, but this particular piece rings harmless for me.They made sure to refer to Joe as "the disgraced coach" and to include the picture with Joe with his hand on JS shoulder as to portray they were connected at the hip. I made the mistake of checking out the comments on the WNEP Facebook page on this. If you are confused what message this sent, check it out. Usually Twitter is a bigger cesspool than Facebook on this topic. Not in this case. For all intents and purposes, he was disgraced. And we have Mr. Sandusky to thank for all this mess. No Jerry = No scandal.Well the end result is steaming pile of manure that still stinks after a decade I don't think anyone can argue that.
Yet another reason why my only FB follows are my family and friends. I donāt wade very far into the social media waters.I made the mistake of checking out the comments on the WNEP Facebook page on this. If you are confused what message this sent, check it out. Lol and what are the ramifications of selling your school out? Name calling, how jr. High of you.You have no idea what was going on. No idea the ramifications. No idea what was discussed and with whom. NONE. You are an imbecile. Let's just agree on that.

Maybe it's Sandusky's fault. Ever think of that?Well the end result is steaming pile of manure that still stinks after a decade I don't think anyone can argue that.
Right after you explain to me how a university for the first time ever, had to deal with a nuclear bomb like the one that hit in Oct.2011. No road map. No other university ever having to deal with something remotely close to what was occurring, allowing them to follow a model, a course. Nothing. A man was raping children. The university was being threatened with the actual disbanding of their football program. Lawsuit threats piling up by the hundreds. Joe Paterno lost his coaching job and reputation. That would have happened at any other school in the country at that time for the crimes that were being committed against children. Believe what you want. The man responsible for all of this will rot in prison. Many people suffered. Not just Joe.Please explain why the bot allowed Joe, Tim, Gary, Graham, the football program, and the university to be slammed in 2011-2012 and why they havenāt attempted to correct the narrative since.
In that case, please enlighten us on what really was discussed and with whomā¦.You have no idea what was going on. No idea the ramifications. No idea what was discussed and with whom. NONE. You are an imbecile. Let's just agree on that.
Hold on a second, no doubt it was an unprecedented situation. A university dealing with a moral panic (involving alleged child sex abuse no less) in the age of the modern, internet and social media driven media. Nonetheless, you are conveniently overlooking that the university did NOTHING to even attempt to defend itself, and in fact immediately fell on its sword, so to speak. Contrast that with how other universities have weathered scandals since that time. Furthermore, Joe didnāt lose his job and reputation, PSU took it from him by simultaneously firing him and the university president, thereby making all involved look guilty as sin without having conducted any sort of investigation. The university followed that up with the Freeh report designed to justify its actions, and then added insult to injury by paying untold millions to claimants many of whose claims were of dubious merit. I invite you again to enlighten us as to what really happened and why, including in your explanation a cogent defense of why the university acted as it did.Right after you explain to me how a university for the first time ever, had to deal with a nuclear bomb like the one that hit in Oct.2011. No claimant was vetted regarding credibility. Instead, there were negotiating sessions regarding what would or would not be paid.Hold on a second, no doubt it was an unprecedented situation. Actually, you can thank PA CYS for dropping the ball from the beginning with this. They were allowing him to adopt children all along the way. These are trained professionals and they allowed him to adopt numerous children while he was committing heinous acts? Even before The Second Mile was investigated, the Feds should have been called in to investigate PA CYS and those responsible should have had to suffer mightily. But, you know, blame a football coach and University administration. And we have Mr. Sandusky to thank for all this mess. No Jerry = No scandal.
I agree, but social media is just the medium. The core problem is humanity. Social media provides a bullhorn for lies, conspiracies and hate. It's just so easy now to spread division through half-truths and outright lies.About 6 or 7 years ago I had a co worker (that doesn't participate in social media) tell me that Facebook (social media) was going to end the world. In many ways he was/is correct.
